Abstract

PURPOSE: A photo sensitive photographic material having a layer which contains as a mordant a polymer having excellent mordantability and capable of tightly contacting with the adjacent layer, which polymer is obtained by polymerizing or copolymerizing a condensate of aminoguanidine and a specific monomer containing an aldehyde group.
CONSTITUTION: The photo sensitive material is produced by condensing an aldehyde group-containing monomer represented by formula I, wherein R is H or lower alkyl, with aminoguanidine in the presence of an acid represented by HX, wherein X is an anion, at a temperature of about 25W80°C, to produce a condensate monomer, polymerizing the condensate monomer alone or copolymerizing the condensate monomer with a different monomer copolymerizable therewith to produce the polymer represented by formula II, wherein R is the same as defined above, and X⊖ is an anion, adding the polymer to an aqueous solution of gelatin in an amount of about 2W100g of polymer per 100g of dried gelatin, adding thereto about 1W20g of a dye to be mordanted and coating a photo sensitive layer or substrate with the composition, whereby the composition is incorporated in the photo sensitive material.
