Abstract
PURPOSE: To minimize the quantity of unavailable electric power due to inductance of the power supply cable of an electric furnace by facilitating attachment of the cable to a furnace side terminal leading to an electrode and detachment thereof from the terminal to make the length of the cable shortest.
CONSTITUTION: Electric furnace side secondary conductor 13 is connected to gripper 12 of electrode 11 of electric furnace 6, and attaching and detaching unit 14 is fixed to the other end of conductor 13. Power supply cable 19 is connected to secondary side terminal 18a of transformer 18 for the furnace, and cable terminal fitting 20 is fixed to the tip of cable 19. Cable holder 16 is movably suspended on track 15, and cable gripper 17 is attached to the tip of holder 16. The length of cable 19 is made shortest satisfying the necessity, and fitting 20 of cable 19 is detached from furnace side unit 14 when the furnace is tilted to discharge steel or the electrode unit is turned along with cover 5 to charge raw materials. Fitting 20 is supported with gripper 17 of holder 16. Thus, power loss due to inductance is reduced at the time of supplying large current.
