Abstract

PURPOSE:To position a shipway easily, quickly and accurately, by performing collimation and measuring through reflectors mounted at two points at an optional distance from each other and through two light wave range finders mounted on the shipway. CONSTITUTION:A reflector 5 is collimated by a light wave range finder 3 on the shipway 1. The reflectors 5, 6 are collimated by another light wave range finder 4 on the shipway. Thereby, the distance l1 between points A, C, the distance l2 between points B, D and the distance l3 between the points B, C are measured through the light wave range finders 3, 4. The coordinates of the points A, B on the shipway are calculated from the measured values. The calculated values are compared with predetermined values for positioning the shipway 1. The differences are indicated on indicators 10, 11. The ship operator judges the direction and quantity for the shipway to be displaced to the predetermined values while looking at the indicated values, thus positioning the shipway.
