CONSTITUTION: When sub-SCR2 is turned ON at t1 before load current I0 of main SCR1 is cut off, I0 commutates to SCR2 since the voltage drop of the SCR1 circuit is larger as much as resistance R12 is effective, and SCR1 becomes below a holding current and turns OFF, so that all I0 will flow to SCR2. With auxiliary commutaion SCR3 turned ON at t2 next, the charged voltage of commutation capacity 5 is applied as a reverse bias to SCRs 1 and 2, thereby turning OFF SCR2. At this time, SCR1 is OFF and I0 is cut off. By this circuit, main SCR employs a large- power one with large current capacity and long turn-off time and sub-SCR employs an intermediate or small power one with small capacity and short turn-off time, so that a large-power and short turn-off time SCR can be obtained equivalently.
