Abstract

PURPOSE: An exhaust recirculating system to be devised for sufficient NOx reduction without porviding torque fluctuation and misfire as well as to be able to produce strong turbulence running on in the process of combustion by spouting exhaust into air cylinders at terminal cycles of compression strokes.
CONSTITUTION: With EGR gas feeding branch passages 20aW20d conducting respectively into each air cylinder 4aW4d of a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine connected to a common reservoir chamber 28, are provided respectively auxiliary air intake valves 21aW21d in said branch passages 20aW20d. Then at the time of exhaust strokes, are opened the auxiliary air intake valves 21aW21d to send exhaust in the air cylinders 4aW4d through said branch passages 20aW20d into the reservoir chamber 28, while the auxiliary air intake valves 21aW21d are brought to be opened again at terminal cycles of compression strokes, exhaust in the reservoir chamber 28 is sent through the branch passages 20aW20d into the air cylinders 4aW4d, to provide strong turbulene over the mixed air in a combustion chamber 15.
