Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce variations in quality by applying a curtain coating process. CONSTITUTION:A two-component coloring type heat-senistive coating solusion 1 containing a color former, developer and binder is fed from as coating solution tank 2 to a solution feed heat 4 by means of a fixed volume pump 3. While the solution is being filled in a pocket 5, it flows out evenly in the width direction through a slit 6 and forms a gravity fall curtain 7. The curtain 7 whose solution film is stabilized by an edge guide 8 collides against a continuously travelling web 9 which is changed of its direction by a roller 11 and is thereby coated. In the upstream of said colliding part is provided a wind shield plate 10. When the head 4 is in the standby prosition of a broken line, the solution 1 passes through the through-holes 12 of a punching plate 12 and is recovered in a solution receiving tank 13 and is thereby recycled.
