Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase bonding strength and make possible sealing of Brewster's window of less transmission loss by using low melting point powder glass for the end part of the laser tube and window member and thermo compression bonding the same within the jig having a low coefficient of thermal expansion. CONSTITUTION:The end part 2 of a laser tube 1 is accurately polished to a Brewster's angle and low melting point powder glass is evenly coated on the polished surface, after which the solvent is dried. Separately, a jig 4 which is composed of two portions A, B and in which the inside bottom of a cylindrical part 5 assumes the Brewster's angle when A is fitted to B is made of a material such as quartz glass, ceramics, metal invar or the like having a coefficient of thermal expansion lower by 1 digit as compared to a tube material, window member 3. Next, the window member 3, laser tube end part 2 are inserted in this order into the cylinder of the jig 4 and the assembly is heat treated at 300 deg.C to 500 deg.C under pressure to melt the low melting point glass, after which it is cooled, whereby the perfect vacuum sealing free from thermal strain is accomplished.
