Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase denitration ratio and to lengthen catalyst life without installation of a dust-collector, by making NOx-contg. gas, to which NH3 has been injected, pass through a ctalyst layer which is constituted of catalyst particles packed between electrodes, across which a voltage is applied.
CONSTITUTION: A catalyst 3, 1W10mm in particle diametr and 1012Ω-cm in electric resisftance, is packed in an air-permeable earth electrode 4 to form a packed layer, in which a high-voltage electrode 10 supported with porcelain insulators 8, 8' is installed. High voltage is applied between the electrodes 10 and 4. Exhaust gas contg. NOx, into which is injected NH3, is led through a duct 1 in the direction of an arrow and through the catalyst layer 3 to an outlet duct 2. While the exhaust gas passing through the catalyst layer, high voltage is applied to te electrode 10 so as to produce multi-electrode discharge in air space of the catalyst layer and to charge the dust, so that it is collected on the particle catalyst around the electrode 4. During that time, the catalyst particles are moved downward through a valve 5, separated from dust by means of a screen 6, then it is fed through a catalyst regeneraftor 7 to the catalyst layer 3 by a conveyor 8
