Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the title powder to be charged to a uniform and stable state having an adequate amount of charge, and accordingly to always form a visible image of constant image density, by adding ortho-phthalic acid to a resin at least in its surface part.
CONSTITUTION: A resin, 100 wt. pts., such as a polymer having a phenyl ring; an ortho-phthalic acid, 0.5 to 10 wt.pts., preferably 1 to 5 wt.pts., represented by the formula (R being carboxy); colorant; charge polarity controller; etc. are kneaded, cooled, and pulverized to give a binary developing toner. Otherwise, a resin containing the formula compound may be formed as a surface layer on the surfaces of carrier kernel grains to give a binary developing carrier. Further, a resin containing the formula compound and magnetic grains dispersed may be used for a one component type developer. These permit allowable ranges to be wide in the case of variable conditions in triboelectric process, composition, preparation process, etc.
