Abstract
PURPOSE: To keep the output voltage always at positive potential at the dilute air- fuel ratio side, and obtain output voltage of less than 0.15 V, by providing electrodes of specific double conductive structure in the solid electrolyte for oxygen gas detection.
CONSTITUTION: Before baking of solid electrolyte 6C for oxygen gas detection, Pt paste is spread on the electrode forming surface thereof, which is simultaneously baked at high temperatures of 1500 to 1600°C at the time of baking of the electrolyte 6C, so that a first electron conductive layer 6B is formed as the inside electrode. The quantitative rate of pores in the layer 6B, that is, the rate of coverage with respect to the electrode forming surface, is set at 30 to 70%. Next, same Pt paste is spread on the outer face of the layer 6B, which is dried at 150 to 200°C and baked at 1100°C, so that a second electron conductive layer 6A is formed as the outside electrode. The layer 6A is porous, and part of the inside thereof reaches the surfaces S1 to S3 of the electrolyte 6C which are left uncovered by the layer 6B.
