Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible control over phenomena such as separation and stall by making uniform the velocity distribution at the difuser's inlet by such a construction that high-pressure fluid at the diffuser's outlet is to be jetted out through an adjustable slit provided at the diffuser's inlet.
CONSTITUTION: The fluid whose pressure energy is raised up by the diffuser, flows out from the discharge opening upon being gathered at a scroll 5. At the rear of the diffuser's base plate 7, a baffle plate 7' is equipped with a necessary spacing, which forms a back flow line 8. On the inside surface of the diffuser's base plate 7, a ring-shaped nozzle 10 is equipped while a slit 15 is provided at its outlet. A backward guide vane 16 is provided in the back stream line 8 to give, at the diffuser's inlet, the jet stream a swirl in the same direction at the guide vane 4, accelerate low-speed fluid and make uniform the velocity distribution at the diffuser's inlet. Thus phenomena such as separation and stall can be controlled.
