Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A quinazoline derivative of formula I: (R is OH or halogen) and its acid addition salt. EXAMPLE:2-[4-(2-Chloromicotinoyl)piperazino]-4-amino-6,7-dimethoxy quinazoline. USE:Hypotensive agents having little sympathetic inhibitory actions, low toxicity, and effective against essential and chromic hypertension. PROCESS:A compound of formula II: (X is halogen or alkylthio group) is reacted with a compound of formula III in an inert organic solvent, e.g. benzene or toluene, at normal or higher pressure under cooling or heating to give the desired compound of formula I.
