Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A 2-phenoxypyrimidine derivative of formula I: (R1 is H or methyl group; R2 is halogen; R3 and R7 are H, 1W6C lower alkyl, 3W5C alkenyl group, etc.; R4, R5, and R6 are H, 1W6C lower alkyl, nitro groups, etc., or may form a naphthalene ring).
EXAMPLE: 2-(3-Trifluoromethylphenoxy)-5-chloropyrimidine.
USE: Herbicides.
PROCESS: A compound of formula IV is reacted with a compound of formula V in the presence of a base, e.g. an alkali metal or its carbonate, in the presence or absence of an inert solvent, e.g. benzene or toluene, to give the objective compound of formula I.
