Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a disposal method whereby a volume reduction disposal is capable with its volume compacted as small as possible, further at low cost of the disposal, with no hazard of leak to outside of the radioactive waste contained in the interior of the disposal container even under a severe condition.
CONSTITUTION: For the disposal of radioactive waste, firstly after a high-level radioactive waste has been stored in a tank for several years, an evaporative enrichment is processed by using evaporators, secondly with the above waste calcinated by rotary kilns to obtain an powdery granule. And with a blending processed at an appropriate ratio between said powedery granule and a solidifying agent like ceramic products, a cold press is operated by throwing from a hopper 1 to a press mold 2, and this molded material 4 is to be accommodated in a disposal container main unit 5. Subsequently with a cap unit 6 engaged to said main unit 5, a pressurization is operated from updown direction while being heated, and the cap unit 6 is press inserted while making a press contact with an inner wall of the main unit 5, to complete a work of sintering and sealing for the molded material.
