Abstract
PURPOSE: To make possible the forming work with the press of short stroke, to improve the production efficiency, and to reduce the cost, at the direct forging of flanged long pipe, by so arranging the press mechanism as to make its stroke to be independent of the extrusion length of the pipe.
CONSTITUTION: The freely elevatable flanged core die 2 is set in the main dies 1; hereby, the mold is built up; the molten metal is poured into the mold, and the plug die 4 standing on other place is brought down through CYL-3 CYL-2 onto the upper surface of the core plate 2; the reverse L-type punch 3, being divided into two or more segments and being standing sidewards, is built up into one body through CYL-1 and CYL-4, and is brought down along the internal surface of main dies 1 and external surface of plug die 4; hereby, the molten metal is pressed and solidified. When the temperature of molten metal reaches to the suitable plastic temperature, the plug 4 is moved upward and sidewards, and is boosted by the punch 3, and forms the extruded pipe portion; this is continued until the flange portion gets the specified thickness, and then, the formation is finished. The punch 3 is taken away, and the product 9 is pulled away by CYL-6 through the core plate 2, and the stopper 8 is inserted to the bottom plane of the pipe 9 through CYL-5, and the core plate 4 is brought down. the product is pulled away through the opening.
