Abstract

PURPOSE: To generate a diagnostic pattern causing a sequence circuit not to malfunction, by generating the diagnostic pattern for the sequence circuit making at least two signals among several signals not to change at the same timing.
CONSTITUTION: In order to diagnose the operation state of FF1 against direct reset DR by the sequence circuit of FF1, diagnostic patterns to input terminals (a) and (b) of NAND gate 2 are fixed, for example, as shown in the table. When the diagnostic order changes from "1" to "2", only terminal (b) changes from "1" to "0" and when the diagnostic order changes from "2" to "3", only terminal (a) changes from "1", to "0", so that two input terminals (a) and (b) will not change at the same time. As for the clock of terminal C and input signals to terminal J and K, similar diagnostic patterns are used. Consequently, the malfunction of the sequence circuit can be revented which cannot ignore a time difference, so that diagnosis can be attained accurately.
