Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain high-grade clothing materials having various wool or animal hair-like permanent hand with high productivity, by softening acrylic fiber tows in the stretch-breaking step.
CONSTITUTION: The acrylic fiber tow 1 is widened by the creel guide 2 to a uniform tow of a given width and fed to the rolls 3, hot-drawn between the rolls 3 and 5 via the heater 4, then stretch-broken between the rolls 5 and 6 and between the rolls 6 and 7 to give the short fiber web 11, or which the softener 10 is sprayed from the nozzle 8 in the width direction. The tow 1 is then crimped by the crimper 9 and uniformly finished with the softener, then heat-set in wet hot steam in a relaxed state at 100 W 150°C by the continuous relaxing device to fix the softener on the fiber surface.
