1480356 Air intake silencers for IC engines MITSUI SHIPBUILDING & ENG CO Ltd 9 Sept 1974 [11 Sept 1973] 39235/74 Heading F1B A silencer for an I.C. engine supercharger 11 comprises coaxial cylinders 18, 19 within an outer casing 16 to define a zigzag passage, soundabsorbing means 20 spaced from the walls of the passage, an air suction opening in the outer casing, and an inner end opening of the passage for connection to an intake port of the supercharger, the passage having at least one restricting portion II and one expansion portion III. A suction opening, containing a filter 13, is provided in each of the three upper faces of the octagonal outer casing 16.
