Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the injection characteristic of an injector by shortening its valve opening period. SOLUTION: An injector drive circuit 1 mainly comprises a constant voltage application part 2, a timing control part (TC) 3, a constant current control part 4, switches SW1 to SW3 and the like. The constant voltage application part 2, which consists of a high voltage charge control part (HVC) 20 and a large capacity capacitor C, transduces a battery voltage (+B) of, for example, 12 V into a high DC voltage of about 200 V in the high voltage charge control part 20 and also controls the charging of the capacitor C. For driving an injector INJ, the timing control part 3 actuates the switches SW1 and SW2 to cause the capacitor C to apply a prescribed high voltage or constant voltage to an injector solenoid L1.

2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, attempts have been made to arrange an injector (fuel injection device) in a cylinder of a gasoline engine and directly inject fuel into the cylinder in order to improve combustion efficiency. According to the direct injection of fuel into the cylinder, all the gasoline fuel supplied from the injector is supplied into the cylinder, so that it is possible to achieve combustion closer to the theoretical value, thereby improving fuel efficiency and exhaust gas. It is possible to realize reduction of NOx, HC and the like in the inside.

However, in the case of direct injection, the space in which gasoline fuel is injected is a space formed by a cylinder block, a piston, and a cylinder head. In comparison, the injection must be performed under very high pressure. In addition, there is no time and space to sufficiently diffuse the fuel after fuel injection. Therefore, under such conditions, in order to obtain the same combustion conditions as before, it is necessary to increase the fuel pressure of gasoline fuel supplied to the injector and sufficiently diffuse the fuel from the moment of injection into the cylinder. There is. To this end, it is necessary to drive the injectors at high speed against high fuel pressure and to precisely control the fuel injection time. The drive circuit also applies a high voltage to the injectors (specifically, the injector solenoid) in a short time. Therefore, it is necessary to open and close the needle valve of the injector at a high speed.

Next, the operation of the injector drive circuit configured as described above will be described with reference to FIG.
Now, the voltage Vc51 of the capacitor C51 is changed as shown in FIG.
Assuming that the battery is charged in advance by the booster circuit 120 and is in a high voltage state, the injector drive signal (FIG. 14A) including the drive timing of the injector solenoid L and drive time information is turned on. At time t1, the switch SW11 is turned on, and the high voltage resulting from this charging is applied to the injector solenoid L. At this time, a transient phenomenon of the LCR circuit accompanying the discharge of the capacitor C51 causes an injector solenoid current ISOL (FIG. 14 (h)).
Reaches the peak value, and the needle valve of the injector is fully opened. The switch SW11 (FIG. 1)
By continuing to turn on 4 (b), the capacitor voltage Vc51 crosses zero, and the injector solenoid voltage VSOL shown in FIG. 14 (g) also becomes a negative voltage.

By repeatedly performing such an operation through the injector drive circuit shown in FIG. 13, the drive current is supplied to the injector solenoid L in the manner shown in FIG. That is, as described above, in such a circuit, it is necessary to drive the needle valve at high speed against high fuel pressure and to accurately control the fuel injection time. Therefore, the injector solenoid current I between the times t1 and t2 in FIG.
The SOL peak part is required. However, in order to flow this peak current (large current) to the injector solenoid L to drive the needle valve at high speed, the on-board battery B is required.
Voltage of 12V is insufficient. Therefore, the booster circuit 12
0 to generate a predetermined high voltage, which is connected to the capacitor C51.
At a predetermined timing and applied to the injector solenoid L at a stretch to obtain the desired peak current value.
After the needle valve is once opened, the injector solenoid current I SOL value is switched to the holding current to maintain the needle valve in the open state for a predetermined time.

In the injector drive circuit disclosed in the above publication and the injector drive circuit shown in FIG. 13, a high voltage is applied to the injector solenoid by utilizing a transient phenomenon of the LCR circuit. Due to the application, sufficient rise characteristics of the injector solenoid current (excitation current) may not be ensured in some cases. If sufficient startup characteristics cannot be ensured in this way, there arises a problem that the required valve opening speed of the needle valve cannot be obtained, that is, a satisfactory injection characteristic of the injector cannot be obtained.

In order to achieve the above object, in the injector drive circuit according to the present invention, the solenoid for driving the injector is driven with a large current only at the beginning of the drive, and the predetermined time thereafter is set to a smaller current. The gist of the invention is to use a constant voltage circuit that outputs a constant high voltage as a circuit that supplies a drive signal for the large current drive to the solenoid in the injector drive circuit that performs a constant current drive.

According to this configuration, when the excitation of the solenoid of the injector is started, that is, when the driving of the injector is started,
The constant voltage circuit applies a constant high voltage to the solenoid for a predetermined time. Therefore, a rectangular wave-like high voltage is applied to the solenoid of the injector, and the rise of the solenoid excitation current at that time is earlier than the rise of the same excitation current due to the transient phenomenon of the LCR circuit, and the valve opening time of the injector is also shorter.

According to this configuration, the constant high voltage can be applied to the solenoid during discharge of the capacitor. At this time, the exciting current from the capacitor to the solenoid is hardly affected by the capacitor,
It can be considered as an exciting current due to a transient phenomenon of the LR circuit. Generally, the rise of the exciting current due to the transient phenomenon of the LR circuit is earlier than the rise of the exciting current due to the transient phenomenon of the LCR circuit, so that the valve opening time of the injector is also shortened.

According to this configuration, the value of the current flowing through the solenoid is monitored, and the application of the high voltage to the solenoid is stopped at the timing when the current value reaches a predetermined threshold (specified) value at which the injector can be opened. Therefore, it is possible to more reliably open the injector. In addition, the application time of the high voltage is suitably changed, which also saves energy for opening the valve.

According to this configuration, the predetermined threshold value of the exciting current at which the injector can be opened is made variable in accordance with the fuel pressure. Therefore, by changing the application time of the high voltage applied to the solenoid according to the fuel pressure, for example, in proportion to the fuel pressure, it is possible to optimize the valve opening energy of the injector and save energy irrespective of the change in the fuel pressure.

That is, in this embodiment, when a high voltage is applied to the injector solenoid L1 to fully open the needle valve, the applied voltage Vd is controlled by the high voltage charge control unit 20 together with the large capacity of the capacitor C itself. As shown in FIG. 3 (e), L rises earlier as compared with the case of the conventional LCR transient (indicated by a dotted line in FIG. 3 (e)). That is, in the present embodiment, the waveform of the voltage (high voltage) Vd applied to the injector solenoid L1 is made into a rectangular waveform, and the excitation of the injector solenoid L1 is accelerated, so that the valve opening time of the needle valve is reduced, and the fuel injection time is reduced. You can get started earlier. This improves the injection characteristics of the injector INJ.

Next, the reason why the rise of the solenoid current I SOL becomes faster when the applied voltage Vd is formed into a rectangular waveform as compared with the case of the conventional LCR transient phenomenon will be described below. The capacity of the capacitor C is increased and the charging voltage is kept constant under the control of the high-voltage charge control section 20. When the constant voltage is applied to the injector solenoid L1, the solenoid current characteristic is the same as the current characteristic due to the transient phenomenon of the LR circuit. Can be approximated by At this time, each constant of LCR is set to a predetermined value satisfying the following conditional expression (1) R 2 > 4L / C (1), for example, R = 10 (Ω), L = 1
(MH) and C = 100 (μF). At this time, the rising characteristic of the solenoid current according to the present embodiment approximated to the transient phenomenon of the LR circuit is the same as that of the conventional capacitor C.
It has been confirmed by experiments and the like that the present invention is faster than the rising characteristic of the solenoid current due to the transient phenomenon of the LCR circuit due to the discharge of the current. Conventionally, LCR
Are usually set so as to satisfy the following conditional expression (2): R 2 <4L / C (2) That is, in the present embodiment, the solenoid is excited to approximate the solenoid current characteristics when a constant voltage is applied to the LR circuit. The above-mentioned conditional expressions (1) and (2), expressions representing the solenoid currents associated with the respective transient phenomena, and the like are well known, and details thereof will be omitted.

As shown in FIG. 6, the energy Pw required to open the needle valve of the injector in proportion to the fuel pressure P, ie, the high voltage peak value Vc shown in FIG. 3 (f) applied to the injector solenoid L1. Increases. Therefore, if the same valve opening characteristics are obtained regardless of the change in the fuel pressure P and the energy Pw is supplied efficiently to the injector solenoid L1, the fuel pressure P
It is desirable to change the high voltage peak value Vc of the applied voltage Vd in accordance with the change in.

Generally, the detection signal Vs of the fuel pressure sensor is proportional to the fuel pressure P, as shown in FIG.
Here, for example, as shown in FIG. 7 (b), the detection signal Vs and the output (high voltage instruction signal) Vo of the high voltage value control unit 6 are also made proportional, and as shown in FIG. 7 (c). , The output of the high-voltage charge control unit 20 (the high-voltage peak value V
As for c), a value proportional to the high voltage instruction signal Vo is obtained. That is, in the second embodiment, a high voltage peak value Vc proportional to the detection signal Vs of the fuel pressure sensor can be obtained. Therefore, even when the fuel pressure P changes, a stable injection characteristic of the injector INJ independent of the fuel pressure P can be obtained, and the energy Pw suitable and efficient can be supplied to the injector solenoid L1.

(4) According to the second embodiment, since the high voltage peak value Vc of the applied voltage Vd is changed according to the fuel pressure, a stable injection characteristic of the injector INJ independent of the fuel pressure is obtained. Here, the high voltage value control unit 6 applies the proportional high voltage application time control signal Voa according to the detection signal Vs of the fuel pressure sensor to the non-inverting input of the comparison circuit 51a of the high voltage application time control unit 5a. Output to the end. Further, a detection value corresponding to the solenoid current ISOL value of the detection resistor R4 is output to the inverting input terminal of the comparison circuit 51a. At this time, the reference voltage (high voltage application time control signal Voa) of the comparison circuit 51a for turning off the switch SW1 is changed according to the fuel pressure.
