Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical sensor in which an output characteristic with reference to the angle of incidence of light can be adjusted easily. SOLUTION: A silicon chip 3 is arranged on the surface of a housing. An optical lens and a slit plate are supported by the housing in the upper part of the silicon chip 3, and a quantity of light to the silicon chip 3 is changed according to the angle of incidence of light. Photodiodes D1 to D4 which output signals according to the quantity of light are formed on the silicon chip 3. In a signal processing circuit which processes the signals which are output from the respective photodiodes D1 to D4, the gain of the signals which are output from the respective photodiodes D1 to D4 is adjusted. Thereby, the outputs of the respective photodiodes D1 to D4 are weighted, and a desired output characteristic which is changed according to the position of the sun is obtained.

2. Description of the Related Art As shown in FIG. 28, an insolation sensor 100 is used as an optical sensor for a vehicle. The insolation sensor 100 is mounted on the upper surface of a dash panel 101 of an automobile to receive the insolation. It is used to detect and correct changes in room temperature due to solar radiation of the air conditioner. FIG. 29 shows an example of the solar radiation sensor. Sensor housing 10
The light-receiving element 103 is disposed on the upper surface of the light-receiving element 2, and the light-receiving element 103 is covered with an optical lens (lid material) 104.
When the optical lens 104 is disposed on the upper surface of the dash panel 101, it is made of colored glass or resin (semi-transparent material) and its surface is embossed for design reasons. In addition, a concave portion 105 is formed on the back surface of the optical lens 104 so that light can be guided to the light receiving element 103. That is, as shown in FIG.
3 as it is, but light at an elevation angle of 0 °
The light can be guided to the light receiving element 103 by the lens action of the optical lens 104 as shown in FIG. Also, the light having an elevation angle of 90 ° is diverged by the optical lens 104 as shown in FIG. As described above, the amount of light applied to the light receiving element 103 is controlled by the lens function of the optical lens 104. In addition to the concave lens, an aggregate lens of prisms (Fresnel lens) or the like is used in order to give the optical lens 104 a lens function.

Conventionally, the output characteristic (directivity) with respect to the incident angle of light is adjusted by adjusting the shape of the exit surface of the optical lens 104 (particularly, the shape of the concave portion 105) to obtain a single sensitivity (single output). By adjusting the optical path to the light receiving element 103. That is, as for the method of designing the optical path, it is necessary to design an optical prism as disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 6-43028. However, the surface of the sensor (the surface of the optical lens 104) is textured, and it is necessary to design an optical lens in consideration of the influence of diffusion. However, the degree of diffusion depends largely on experience and intuition. An optical path design of an optical system including a diffusion element due to processing or the like includes elements expected from experience and intuition. Therefore, it is difficult to design (develop) a solar radiation sensor having a desired directivity in a short time.

In FIG. 6, the photodiode D1 is connected to the inverting input terminal of the operational amplifier OP1. A current (photocurrent) ID1 corresponding to the amount of received light flows through the photodiode D1. The operational amplifier OP1 is negatively fed back via the laser trimming resistor R1. The output voltage E1 of the operational amplifier OP1 changes in accordance with the current ID1 flowing through the photodiode D1, and the operational amplifier OP1 and the laser trimming resistor R1 constitute a current / voltage conversion circuit (IV conversion circuit). In this IV conversion circuit, the gain (amplification factor) can be adjusted by adjusting the resistance value of the laser trimming resistor R1.

Next, the operation of the solar radiation sensor 1 configured as described above will be described. The light irradiated on the surface side of the optical lens 4 in FIG. 2 passes through the optical lens 4 and is irradiated on the slit plate 5. Further, the light that has passed through the slit 26 of the slit plate 5 is applied to the photodiodes D1 to D4 (see FIG. 1) of the sensor chip 3. By this light irradiation, signals are output from the photodiodes D1 to D4. That is, the light applied to the sensor surface (optical lens 4) changes its optical path according to the refractive index and shape of the lens material, travels through the lens 4, is emitted toward the sensor chip 3, and passes through the slit 26 of the slit plate 5, through the sensor 26. It reaches chip 3. Here, by making the emission side shape of the optical lens 4 concave, light from the horizontal direction (light with a sensor elevation angle of 0 °) can be guided to the sensor chip 3 side.

FIG. 13 shows the amount of light received by the sensor chip (light receiving element) 3 with respect to the elevation angle. In FIG. 13, the horizontal axis represents the elevation angle, and the vertical axis represents the amount of received light. In FIG.
The light receiving characteristic without the optical lens 4 is indicated by L1, and the light receiving characteristic with the optical lens 4 is indicated by L2.
From FIG. 13, the light receiving characteristic L without the optical lens 4 is shown.
In the case of 1, when the elevation angle is large, the received light amount is large, and when the elevation angle is small, the received light amount is almost “0”. On the other hand, it is understood that the light receiving characteristic L2 when the optical lens 4 is provided can reduce the amount of received light when the elevation angle is large, and can increase the received light amount to some extent when the elevation angle is small.

On the other hand, in the present embodiment, a desired sensor directivity can be obtained by adjusting the resistance values of the laser trimming resistors R1 to R4 in FIG. 7 to 1
As described with reference to FIG. 1, the optical lens 4 and the slit plate 5 as the light amount changing member are concentrically arranged when the sun is directly above the light receiving surface (the state of FIGS. 11 and 12). Multiple photodiodes (light receiving elements) D
1 to D4, the output from an element (particularly D4) at a position away from the center of the concentric circle is compared with the case where the sun is in a direction away from directly above the light receiving surface (the state of FIGS. 7 to 10). Lower). Therefore, the concentric elements D1 to D1
A desired sensor output characteristic (directivity) can be easily obtained by arbitrarily controlling the output of the element (particularly D4) located on the outer periphery of D4. In particular, in the elevation angle characteristic of the sun to be detected, it is very effective to operate the output of the element in the outer peripheral portion when suppressing the output at a high elevation angle, that is, when the sun is located directly above the sensor.

As described above, in the present embodiment, the combination of the shape of the photodiodes D1 to D4 (the shape of the light receiving portion) and the circuit amplifying portion can reduce the lens characteristics of the optical lens 4 including the effect of the grain and the diffusion due to the material. Since the sensor output characteristics (sensor sensitivity characteristics) can be obtained, the tuning time of the lens shape can be reduced. Therefore, short-term design (development) becomes possible.

As described above, this embodiment has the following features. (A) Four photodiodes (light receiving elements) D1 to D4 are arranged in the light receiving area 11, and a desired output characteristic that changes according to the sun position (light source position) is obtained by weighting the output of each photodiode D1 to D4. I got it. Therefore, the output of each of the photodiodes D1 to D4 is weighted after the lens system is created, that is, by using the lens 4 and the slit plate 5 having determined optical characteristics. As a result, conventionally, when optimizing using a plurality of lens systems, it is not only troublesome and troublesome, but also a large number of lens types are required. More specifically, a desired output characteristic is obtained by adjusting the shape of the concave portion 105 in FIG. 29, the distance between the optical lens 104 and the light receiving element 103, the radius of the outer surface of the lens 104, the length of the linear surface, and the like. Was. On the other hand, in the present embodiment, after the lens 4 and the slit plate 5 are formed (after the lens shape and the slit shape are determined), each of the photodiodes D1 to D4 is formed using a lens system having predetermined optical characteristics. The output is weighted, and the adjustment work is easy. That is, conventionally, it was impossible to realize a plurality of directivities with one light receiving element with a single lens. However, the emitted light is limited by an optical lens or the like, and the output of the light receiving element is reduced. By changing each of the photodiodes D1 to D4,
Desired directivity can be realized. (B) The weight of the output of each of the photodiodes D1 to D4 is adjusted by adjusting the gain of the signal output from each of the photodiodes D1 to D4 in a signal processing circuit that processes the signal output from each of the photodiodes D1 to D4. Therefore, it is practically preferable. (C) Since the photodiodes D1 to D4 are formed concentrically, they are less affected by azimuthal characteristics. That is, in the in-vehicle photosensor, the azimuth of the sun to be detected changes in addition to the elevation. In order to obtain the elevation characteristics without depending on the azimuth, it is necessary to have a constant elevation characteristic when the sun is in any azimuth.
This condition can be satisfied by the concentric arrangement shown in the present embodiment.

Although the light receiving area 11 of the sensor chip 3 is divided into four parts in the configuration shown in FIG. 3, the degree of freedom in design is increased by further dividing the light receiving area 11. For example, as shown in FIG. 16, a matrix pattern including a number of rectangular light receiving areas (photodiodes) 28 may be used. Alternatively, as shown in FIG.
The ring pattern may be divided into a large number of light receiving regions (photodiodes) 29.

Also, by changing the light receiving element pattern as shown in FIG. 18 with respect to the configuration of FIG. 3, it is possible to make a plurality of directional characteristics compatible as shown in FIG. That is, a plurality of (two or more) directional characteristics can be obtained by one light receiving chip by combining a plurality of photodiodes (light receiving elements) 30 to 38 arranged concentrically. Multiple properties are obtained and are preferred. Specifically, of the plurality of photodiodes (light receiving elements) 30 to 38 arranged concentrically, the element 30 located at the center is used as the first directivity characteristic, and the element 30 and the other elements 31 to 38 are used. 38 was used for the second directional characteristic. Therefore, a plurality of directional characteristics can be obtained, and by making the central element 30 multipurpose, it becomes preferable as a sensor.

As described above, it is possible to obtain outputs having different characteristics with one sensor chip. More specifically, for example, the directional characteristics (I) automatically turn on / off the headlights of an automobile. The area in which the signal processing circuit is formed is a desired output characteristic (directivity (I) of the entire sensor among the concentric photodiodes (light receiving elements) 30 to 34.
Since a region which does not contribute to I)) becomes a dead space as a light receiving region, a signal processing circuit is formed to effectively utilize this region. This can save space for a signal processing circuit required outside the concentric light receiving element formation region, which is advantageous for miniaturization.

As described above, the concentric light receiving elements 30 and 3
1 to 34 are formed at a predetermined distance from each other, and a signal processing circuit for processing a signal output from each light receiving element is formed in the predetermined area. Of these, by using the area serving as the dead space for another purpose, the area can be effectively used, and the size can be reduced. This is particularly effective in a sensor in which a light receiving element and a signal processing circuit are integrated.
