Reference numeral 7 denotes a rotor made of a magnet, and A and B each represent a coil (winding). Taking the coil A as an example, the current (I) flowing through the coil is determined by the ON time of the switch 20 per unit time. The opening and closing of the switch 20

When the voltage at one end of the resistor 18 exceeds the reference voltage, the switch 20 is turned off to cut off the current, and when the voltage at one end of the resistor 18 becomes lower than the reference voltage, the switch 20 is turned on. Thus, the current I flowing through the coil A is controlled in proportion to the reference voltage. By changing the reference voltage according to the MAC signal (coil current control signal) supplied from the control unit in FIG. 1, the current flowing through the coil A per unit time can be controlled, and the motor power can be adjusted. Becomes possible. The current amount can be similarly controlled for the coil B.

Requires only the small coil current required to hold the rotor in place,
It is not necessary to constantly supply a large current as in the prior art, and useless driving by such a large current causes only heat generation of the motor and wastes energy. Focusing on this point, in the present embodiment, a minimum current sufficient to maintain the position of the rotor is applied only when necessary, and the coil current is dynamically switched during recording.

The current flowing through the motor coil in “6” is the period “T1”.
The current is reduced to about one third of the current flowing through the motor coil at “3” and “T15”. Since the recording paper is stopped, the stepping-out of the pulse motor does not occur even if the drive current of the motor is reduced. On the other hand, during this period, the amount of the reduced motor power is allocated to the recording power, and the recording power is reduced. It is raised to “RW1 (for example, 9W)”. As a result, in the period from time t4 to t5 (period “T14”) and time t6 to t7 (period “T16”), the maximum value of the number of black pixels that can be simultaneously recorded is “90”, and the recording performance is improved. . Therefore, even if the line has a lot of black, the situation that the recording time is greatly increased does not occur.

る記録装置。5. A recording apparatus for recording an image on a recording medium to be conveyed by driving a plurality of recording elements by dividing the recording element into a predetermined number of recording element units. The drive timing and the timing for driving the first predetermined number of recording element units are overlapped, and the non-drive timing of the pulse motor for transporting the recording medium and the second predetermined number of recordings greater than the first predetermined number are recorded. A recording apparatus, wherein a timing for driving an element unit is overlapped.
