Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a personal identification device for making possible for a person to be identified to easily set his iris on the focus of a CCD camera. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a proximity sensor 4 for calculating a distance between the CCD camera 3 and the person to be identified, a beep generating part for transmitting a frequency corresponding to the calculated distance to a speaker 5, and the speaker 5 for outputting the beep in accordance with the frequency transmitted from the beep generating part, and also, the device is provided with a control part for controlling so that the beep may be outputted while reducing the frequency as the person to be identified comes from afar closer to the focal length of the CCD camera 3, and that the beep with the lowest frequency may be outputted when the person reaches the focal length, and that the beep may be outputted while increasing the frequency when the person to be identified comes closer to the CCD camera beyond the focal length.

[0003] The iris will be briefly described here. The pattern of the surface layer of the human eyeball, particularly the iris, is formed by a pattern such as a radial black streak or an outer contour around the pupil. The -n is completed in childhood and differs between the right eye and the left eye for each individual and even for the same person. Therefore, when this iris is used, personal identification ability is particularly excellent.

As a means for capturing the iris from a distance using a camera, a "human body" is identified from an image captured by the camera, and a "face" is extracted from the identified "human body".
Subsequently, the position of the "eye" is specified. Then, the iris of the "eye" is captured, only the iris pattern is captured, and the iris data of the person registered in advance is checked to confirm the identity.

Devices having the above functions include personal identification devices such as entrance / exit management devices installed at entrances and the like of confidential rooms. The personal identification device determines whether or not the iris data of the person registered in advance matches the iris pattern of the person to be identified, and sends the determination result to the host device. is there. Hereinafter, a process until the personal identification device acquires the iris data of the identified person will be described.

First, a person to be identified looks into a window of a reading unit provided in front of the apparatus. Then, the eye of the identified person is illuminated by the light, and the iris is acquired by the CCD camera. At this time, the person to be identified can see his / her eyes acquired by the CCD camera through the half mirror provided inside the apparatus and shown on the display inside the apparatus.

When the iris is focused on the focal point of the CCD camera, the time when the eye image reflected on the display is sharpest is determined. It moves so that it looks sharp. In addition to moving the face back and forth, the identified person can operate the operation unit to change the angle of the CCD camera. Then, when the iris is correctly focused on the focus of the CCD camera, the identified person presses the start switch.
Then, the iris obtained by the CCD camera is sent to the processing unit as iris data.

In the above-mentioned conventional apparatus, there is no automatic focusing function, and the discriminator himself looks at the display so that his / her eyes can be clearly seen on the internal display. You had to move back and forth or change the angle of the camera. Therefore, there is a problem that it takes time to get used to. Also,
Since the discriminated person with low eyesight cannot see his or her own eye on the display, it cannot judge whether or not the iris is in focus on the CCD camera, and it takes time to perform the collation. There was a problem.

In this embodiment, as shown in FIG. 3, as the person to be identified approaches the focal length A of the CCD camera 3 from a distance, the control unit 12 sends a beep sound generating unit. 14 is instructed to lower the frequency and output a beep sound. And CCD camera 3
When the identified person reaches the focal length A, that is, when the object distance becomes equal to the focal length, the control unit 12 outputs a beep sound of the lowest frequency to the beep sound generation unit 14. Is instructed. On the other hand, when the person to be identified further approaches the CCD camera 3 beyond the focal length A of the CCD camera 3, the control section 12 increases the frequency to the beep sound generation section 14 to output a beep sound. Is instructed. Therefore, if the identified person moves to a position where the beep sound output from the speaker 5 can be heard at the lowest level, the identified person's eyes can reach the focal length A of the CCD camera 3.

The identified person starts to move to the position where the lowest beep sound occurs in accordance with the beep sound that changes with his / her movement. At this time, for example, assuming that the identified person gradually approaches the focal length A from a distance, the control unit 12 instructs the beep sound generation unit 14 to lower the frequency. Then, the beep sound generator 14 transmits the frequency based on the instruction to the speaker 5, and outputs a beep sound from the speaker 5.

The control unit 12 detects, via the proximity sensor 4, that the identified person continues to approach the focal length and reaches the focal length A. Then, the control unit 1
2 instructs the beep sound generator 14 to make the frequency the lowest. On the other hand, the control unit 12 informs that the identified person has exceeded the focal length A and has come closer to the CCD camera 3.
Is detected, the beep sound generator 14 is instructed to increase the frequency. Then, the discriminating person recognizes that the beep sound has increased, and moves his / her face to a position where the beep sound output from the speaker 5 is lowest, thereby making his / her own eyes. Adjust the position.

Then, the subject stops moving at the position where the beep sound is heard at the lowest level, and presses the start switch 13. When detecting that the start switch 13 has been pressed, the control unit 12 instructs the CCD camera 3 to capture an image. Then, the CCD camera 3 takes an image of the eye whose focus position is accurately adjusted by the CCD sensor 9 and the lens group 10, and transmits an image of the taken eye to the image processing unit 11. The image processing unit 11 performs iris feature extraction from the input image and transmits the iris data to the control unit 12 as iris data.
Then, the control unit 12 performs a collation operation based on the registered iris, and sends a determination result to the host device.

In this embodiment, the frequency of the beep sound is changed in accordance with the forward and backward movements of the identified person, and the lowest frequency is reached when the identified person reaches the focal length. Since the beep sound is output, the person to be identified can adjust the iris to the focus of the CCD camera 3 only by moving to the position where the beep sound can be heard lowest. As a result, it is possible to easily adjust the iris to the focus of the CCD camera 3 even if the eyesight of the person to be identified is reduced. Also, since there is no need to provide an automatic focusing function, a low-cost CCD camera 3 may be used, and further, since there is no need to install a display, the cost of the apparatus can be reduced.
