At present, powder sintering is the mainstream of ceramics production methods, and is based on the improvement of powder characteristics such as finer powder and higher purity, and the production under well-controlled sintering conditions. Thus, high strength ZrO 2 ceramics having a room temperature strength of 3.0 GPa can be manufactured. Furthermore, it has become possible to produce a composite material in which different kinds of ceramic particles are nano-dispersed by a powder sintering method, and attempts have been made to improve strength, toughness, thermal conductivity, thermal shock resistance and the like.

[0004] In general, oxide ceramics are easily deformed at high temperatures, and thus it has been considered that they cannot be used as high-temperature structural materials that operate under high loads. However, these oxide ceramics are superior to any type of ceramics in terms of oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance at high temperatures, and widespread use as high-temperature structural materials can be expected if mechanical properties at high temperatures are improved. [0006] However, even if the room temperature strength can be greatly improved by the production conditions or the fineness of the raw material powder as described above, the mechanical properties of the ceramic composite material, especially at high temperatures, are affected by the structure of the particle interface of the constituent materials, the matrix and the matrix. It is greatly influenced by the interface of the strengthening phase and the crystallographic properties. At a high temperature, a superplastic phenomenon appears as the structure becomes finer, and coexistence with high-temperature strength is difficult. Therefore, instead of the conventional sintering method, it is considered necessary to develop a new manufacturing method capable of precisely controlling these factors and a ceramic composite material having a new structure and an interface structure.

Hereinafter, the ceramic composite material of the present invention will be described in detail. The ceramic composite material of the present invention is composed of two or more types of crystal phases having different components by controlling the production conditions of directional solidification, and each crystal phase has an irregular shape, and is arranged continuously and three-dimensionally. This results in a ceramic composite material having a structure entangled with each other. Also,
The size of the structure can be arbitrarily controlled, and by precisely controlling the manufacturing conditions, at least one of the crystal phases is composed of a single crystal and has a uniform structure without colonies, grain boundary phases, or coarse particles. Material. In particular, by repeating the band melting, the impurity concentration was controlled to 1000 ppm or less, and as a result, it yielded in a bending test or a tensile test at a high temperature and showed a plastic deformation of 0.5% or more. In addition, the plastic deformation mentioned here is
This is not a superplasticity of several hundred percent caused by grain boundary sliding or particle rotation, which occurs in a polycrystal whose crystal grain size is reduced to the submicron order, but a deformation caused by the movement of dislocations in the crystal. Also, Journal of A
The American Ceramics Society 79 [5] 1218-1222 (1996) describes the thermal stability of YAG / Al 2 O 3 eutectic fiber.
It is reported that the structure grows about 3 to 4 times and the tensile strength of the fiber is reduced to less than half only by keeping it in the atmosphere at 1,460 ° C. for 100 hours. The reason is that Fe and Ca were detected as impurity elements at the locations where crystal grains had abnormally grown. Further, from the structure photograph of this paper, it is clear that the YAG / Al 2 O 3 eutectic fiber is a polycrystal having colonies. In contrast,
In the ceramic composite material of the present invention, the constituent phases are YAG and Al
Although it is 2 O 3 and the production method is the same as that of the solidification method, the melting point (Tm) is 0.93 Tm with respect to 1,820 ° C.
Each crystal phase does not change even after being kept in the air at 1700 ° C. for 1,000 hours, showing extremely excellent thermal stability. From this, as shown in the present invention, a structure in which two or more crystal phases constituting the ceramic composite material are connected continuously and three-dimensionally, and at least one of them is a single crystal. In addition, it can be seen that high purification is extremely effective.

Subsequently, the melt is directly charged into a crucible and solidified in one direction, or the melt is solidified once and then pulverized. Manufacture materials.
As another method, a method in which the melt is cast into a crucible maintained at a predetermined temperature and a solidified body is obtained while controlling the cooling rate can also be adopted. Then, by repeating the band melting, the impurity concentration can be reduced. As the method, a method of repeatedly performing a band melting method on a solidified material once unidirectionally solidified in a crucible is effective. Of course, a normal sintered body may be used as the raw material rod. Since impurities are accumulated at the uppermost part of the solidified body by this method, it is preferable to use a solidified body from which the accumulated part is removed.

Comparative Example 4 α-Al 2 O 3 powder and Y 2 O 3 powder were used as raw materials at 82.0 /
The mixture was mixed at a ratio of 18.0 mol%, mixed with a wet ball mill using an ethanol solvent, and ethanol was removed from the obtained slurry using a rotary evaporator. The obtained mixed powder is charged into a molybdenum crucible installed in a chamber, and the crucible is maintained at an atmospheric pressure of 10 -5 Torr, and the crucible is heated to 1,900 to 1,900 to 500 Torr.
The mixture was heated to 2,000 ° C. to dissolve the mixed powder. Next, the crucible was lowered at a cooling rate of 50 ° C./hour under the same atmospheric pressure, and was unidirectionally solidified to obtain a solidified body.
Table 6 shows the results of ICP analysis of the solidified body and the raw material powder thus obtained. In the raw material powder, several impurities were mixed in the order of about 200 ppm, but all the impurities were slightly reduced. FIG. 21 shows an electron micrograph of a cross-sectional structure perpendicular to the solidification direction of the solidified body thus obtained.
Shown in In the photograph, the white part is the YAG phase and the black part is the α-Al 2 O 3 phase. It was found that this coagulated body had no colony or grain boundary phase and had a uniform structure free of bubbles and voids. Next, FIG. 22 shows an electron micrograph of the solidified body in which only the α-Al 2 O 3 phase was dissolved and only the YAG phase was dissolved. Furthermore, the X of the plane perpendicular to the solidification direction
As a result of the line diffraction, only diffraction peaks from specific surfaces of α-Al 2 O 3 and YAG were observed. From the above, it was found that this solidified body was a ceramic composite material having a structure in which two phases of an α-Al 2 O 3 single crystal and a YAG single crystal were three-dimensionally connected and intertwined in a complicated manner. . Table 7 shows values obtained by measuring the tensile strength of this composite material from room temperature in the air to 1,750 ° C. Here, a test piece was sampled in a direction parallel to the direction of unidirectional solidification. FIG. 23 shows the temperature dependence of the stress-displacement curve in the tensile test. As can be seen, the Al 2 O 3 / YAG composite exhibited brittle fracture from room temperature to 1,750 ° C.
