Abstract
Description
Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 限定的権利または特権を請求する本発明の実施例は以下に定める通りである: 1.筐体と回転自在な軸の間で協動し高圧および低圧領域の間に流体封止を形成 するための流体封止装置であって、 前記軸に取り付けられこれと回転する第1の封止リングと、前記第1の封止リ ングに隣接して配置され前記筐体に対して回転しないように取り付けられる第2 の封止リングと、 前記第1と第2の封止リングはそれぞれ実質的に軸方向に隣接してこれらの間 に半径方向に延在する前記高圧および低圧領域とそれぞれ連通する高圧および低 圧直径により形成された円環状の封止界面を形成するのに適した対向する第1と 第2の平坦な円環状の封止面を形成し、前記封止リングの一方は軸方向に移動自 在になし通常は前記他方の封止リングに向って軸方向に圧接されることと、 前記封止面の一方に形成され前記高圧領域と連通し、前記封止面の間に加圧流 体の薄膜が間置されてこれらの間に小さなクリアランスを形成するための溝パタ ーンと、 前記溝パターンは前記一方の封止面に形成され前記第1と第2の封止リングが 相対的に回転する時に前記対向する封止面との間に流体動力学的な流体封止を形 成するための第1の溝手段を含み、前記第1の溝手段は前記封止界面の前記高圧 側直径に隣接して配置されることと、 前記溝パターンは前記封止面の一方に形成され前記第1と第2の封止面が実質 的に停止している時に前記対向する封止面の間に流体静力学的流体封止を形成す るための第2の溝手段を含み、前記第2の溝手段は前記第1の溝手段から半径方 向に配置されることと、 前記一方の封止面は、前記低圧直径と前記第2の溝手段の間に半径方向に延在 する円環状で溝の無い平坦な平坦部を形成することと、 前記第1の溝手段は前記一方の封止面の周囲で一般に均一な角度で間隔を開け て配置した複数の第1の溝を含み、前記第1の溝は前記高圧直径から円周方向か つ半径方向に突出するように角度がつき、前記第1の溝は内側端部で終止するこ とと、 前記第2の溝手段は前記それぞれの封止リングに対して同心円状に前記ひとつ の封止面に形成された浅い円環状の溝を含み、前記浅い円環状の溝は前記第1の 溝の内側端部に隣接して半径方向に配置され、前記浅い円環状の溝は前記第1の 溝手段の内側端部と開放的な流体連通状態で配置されて円周方向に接続し、前記 浅い円環状の溝は前記円環状の平坦部の半径方向の境界を形成することと、 前記第1の溝は前記円環状の溝の深さより数倍大きな平均深さを有すること を含む装置。 2.前記第1の溝の内側端部は前記円環状の溝の半径方向の境界壁で直接終止し これを通って開口する請求の範囲第1項に記載の封止装置。 3.前記第1の溝は前記第1の溝が前記高圧直径から前記円環状の溝の前記半径 方向の境界壁へ突出するにしたがい徐々に減少する深さを有する請求の範囲第1 項または第2項に記載の封止装置。 4.前記内側の端部に隣接した前記第1の溝は前記浅い円環状の溝の深さと実質 的に等しい深さを有する請求の範囲第3項に記載の封止装置。 5.前記封止リングに形成されて前記高圧領域と前記浅い円環状の溝の間の連通 を提供するための連通通路手段を含む請求の範囲第1項に記載の封止装置。 6.前記連通通路手段は前記一方の封止面に形成されて前記浅い円環状の溝と前 記第1の溝の内側端部の間に半径方向に延在しこれらの間で直接連通できるよう にするための浅い連通溝を含み、前記連通通路は前記浅い円環状の溝の深さと同 様の大きさの深さを有する請求の範囲第5項に記載の封止装置。 7.前記連通溝は前記第1の溝の幅の端数の幅を有する請求の範囲第6項に記載 の封止装置。 8.前記連通溝はその一端が前記円環状の溝と連通し、その他端が前記第1の溝 のそれぞれひとつと連通するように半径方向に延在する請求の範囲第7項に記載 の封止装置。 9.前記第1の溝の内側の端部は急峻なダム状の壁を形成しており、それぞれの 連通通路の他端は前記それぞれの第1の溝への加圧流体の流れに対して上流側の ダム状の壁の端部に近い位置で前記それぞれの第1の溝の内側端部と直接連通す る請求の範囲第8項に記載の封止装置。 10.前記第1の溝に開口する前記連通通路はこれの内側端部において前記第1 の溝の深さの端数である深さを有して、ダム状の壁を通って前記連通通路が開口 する部分に前記ダム状の壁が急峻な段階を形成する請求の範囲第9項に記載の封 止装置。 11.前記第1の溝は約0.0001インチから約0.001インチの範囲の平 均深さを有し、前記第1の溝の深さは前記浅い円環状の溝の深さのおよそ5倍か らおよそ10倍の平均深さを有する先行の請求の範囲のいずれかひとつに記載の 封止装置。 12.前記浅い円環状の溝は約0.00001インチから約0.00008イン チの範囲の深さを有し、前記第1の溝は前記円環状の溝の深さの少なくとも数倍 大きい平均深さを有する先行の請求の範囲のいずれかひとつに記載の封止装置。 13.前記封止流体がガスである先行の請求の範囲のいずれかひとつに記載の封 止装置。 14.前記第1の溝のそれぞれは前記高圧直径から円周方向および半径方向内向 きに突出しながら互いに収束する第1と第2の側縁の間に形成され、前記第1の 溝のひとつの前記第1の側縁は隣接する前記第1の溝の隣接する前記第2の側縁 と平行に延在して前記第1の溝の長手方向の範囲全体にわたって一定の幅の平坦 な平坦部をこれらの間に形成する先行の請求の範囲のいずれかひとつに記載の封 止装置。 15.前記第1の溝のそれぞれは前記高圧側直径から円周方向および半径方向内 向きに突出しながら互いに収束する第1と第2の側縁の間に形成され、前記第1 と第2の側縁は両方ともなめらかに湾曲した形状で前記側縁の一方が凸面状の形 状また前記側縁の他方が凹面状の形状をなす先行の請求の範囲のいずれかひとつ に記載の封止装置。 16.前記高圧側と前記低圧側の直径はそれぞれ外側と内側の半径方向に離れた 直径で形成され、前記第1の溝は前記外側の直径から半径方向内向きに突出して これの前記内側の端部が前記外側と内側の直径の間に半径方向に配置される先行 の請求の範囲のいずれかひとつに記載の封止装置。
