Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the valve operation timing with excellent controllability in any operating condition of an engine in a valve timing control device for an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: In a valve timing adjustment system comprising a valve timing adjustment mechanism 25, an oil control valve 55, etc., provided on a timing pulley 12, the phase shift velocity of a cam shaft 12 is usually dispersed even when the same duty is given to the oil control valve 55 from an electronic control device 80. The control duty to the oil control valve 55 is set in the electronic control device 80 so that the actual valve timing agrees with the target valve timing, the actual phase shift velocity of the cam shaft 12 is operated, and the control duty set in the above procedure is corrected so as to be brought close to the prescriptive value on the phase shift velocity.

As described in the publication, in such a valve timing control device for an internal combustion engine, generally, a timing pulley provided on a camshaft is driven by a chain or belt connected to an engine crankshaft. And a portion fixed to the camshaft, and a movable piston having helical splines formed on the inner and outer circumferences is provided between them. Then, the movable piston is hydraulically moved in the axial direction to shift the phases of the two, thereby continuously changing the operation timing of the valve.

However, as a matter of fact, the phase displacement speed of the camshaft with respect to such a duty ratio varies depending on the component tolerance of the oil control valve, the coil resistance value change (also changes with temperature), and the oil pressure change (temperature and engine speed). ), And so on, for example, in the manner shown in FIG.

Therefore, as shown in FIG. 12 as well, even when a certain same duty ratio d is output, depending on these conditions, SV1 or SV
The phase of the camshaft is displaced at different speeds such as 2, and the responsiveness and the convergence to the target valve timing are greatly different. If the target valve timing is not obtained, not only the above-mentioned improvement of fuel efficiency and torque performance but also reduction of emissions cannot be properly achieved, but drivability is also adversely affected.

Therefore, here, the control gain is set through the control means so that the calculated actual valve timing and the target valve timing match, and the actual camshaft phase displacement at that time is set through the displacement speed calculating means. The speed is calculated, and the set control gain is corrected by the control gain correction means so that the speed approaches the reference value for the same displacement speed.

Further, in such a configuration, as in the invention according to claim 2, the displacement speed calculating means is provided with: A predetermined time of the actual valve timing when a predetermined control gain for the valve timing adjusting means is held. A method for calculating the rotational phase displacement speed of the camshaft based on the amount of transition per hit. If configured as
The rotational phase displacement speed of this camshaft can be obtained as a universal value. That is, it becomes possible to make the correction of the control gain, which is performed by the control gain correction means based on the comparison with the reference value for the same displacement speed, more reliable.

At this time, the above-mentioned held predetermined control gain does not impair the controllability of the valve timing adjusting means even when a large difference occurs between the target valve timing and the actual valve timing. The gain is set as a value of, for example, according to the invention of claim 3, a control gain set by the control means so that the actual valve timing matches the target valve timing, or Control gain corresponding to. If it is set as, it becomes possible to simultaneously perform the setting of the control gain through the control means and the correction of the control gain through the control gain correction means, together with the improvement of the controllability described above. Thus, extremely efficient valve timing control can be realized.

On the other hand, as the control gain correction means, for example, according to the invention of claim 4, the difference between the calculated rotational phase displacement speed and the reference value for the displacement speed is corrected. In the direction, the control gain is corrected by a fixed amount. Alternatively, as in the invention according to claim 5, the control gain is corrected by different amounts according to the difference between the calculated rotational phase displacement speed and a reference value for the same displacement speed. Can be configured as

Incidentally, according to the configuration of the invention described in claim 4, since the correction amount is set to a constant amount, the calculation load as the control gain correction means can be reduced. Further, according to the configuration of the invention described in claim 5, although the amount of calculation is slightly increased, in any case, the rotational phase displacement speed is corrected to a value closer to the above-mentioned reference value, and the responsiveness and the target valve timing are corrected. Convergence is also improved.

Regarding the reference value of the camshaft rotation phase displacement speed, the reference value is calculated according to the invention of claim 6: -Tolerance of parts constituting the valve timing adjusting means and operating conditions of the engine. , The response speed when the rotational phase of the camshaft is displaced in the most possible state. If it is to be set as, the norm is set as a just proper value regardless of the tolerance of the parts constituting the valve timing adjusting means, the warm-up state of the engine, the surrounding environment thereof, etc. The value will be set. Therefore, the correction of the control gain based on the comparison between the reference value and the calculated camshaft rotation phase displacement speed can be realized with higher reliability.

The air cleaner 15 provided at the inlet of the intake passage 6 cleans the outside air taken into the passage 6. The injectors 16 provided near the respective intake ports 6a inject fuel toward the intake ports 6a. During operation of the engine 1, outside air is taken into the intake passage 6 via the air cleaner 15. At this time, each injector 16 injects fuel, so that the mixture of the fuel and the outside air is sucked into the combustion chamber 4 when the intake valve 8 opens the intake port 6a in the intake stroke. The air-fuel mixture sucked into the combustion chamber 4 explodes and burns when the ignition plug 5 operates. As a result, the piston 3 operates, the crankshaft 1a rotates, and an output is obtained for the engine 1. The exhaust gas after combustion is led out from the combustion chamber 4 and discharged to the outside through the exhaust passage 7 when the exhaust valve 9 opens the exhaust port 7a in the exhaust stroke.

Then, when a difference occurs between the calculated actual valve timing VT and the target valve timing VTT, the duty control unit 804: duty ratio d = holding duty + proportional control amount (P) + differential control amount (D) ) (2), the duty ratio d is calculated so that the operation timing of the intake valve 8 follows its target value, and this is output to the oil control valve 55, and the displacement calculated at that time is calculated. The speed SV is compared with the reference speed SVstd, and the duty ratio d is corrected in such a manner that the displacement speed SV> the reference speed SVstd → the duty ratio d is small and the displacement speed SV <the reference speed SVstd → the duty ratio d is large. In the electronic control unit 80, when the duty ratio d for the response delay compensation is output in this way, the duty ratio d that should be held in order to obtain the displacement speed SV of the camshaft 10 through the duty control unit 804.
H is calculated (step S102 in FIG. 8). It should be noted that this duty ratio dH is different from the above-mentioned difference | VT− in the valve timing.
When VTT | is generated, it is obtained as a value that does not impair the controllability of the control system even if the same duty ratio dH is maintained. Therefore, the same duty ratio d
As H, for example, a value at a certain time of the duty ratio d obtained based on the above equation (2) is used. Incidentally, in FIG. 9, as the duty ratio dH to be held,

As described above, according to the valve timing control device of the embodiment, (a) the variation in the phase displacement speed of the camshaft 10 is absorbed in the above-described manner, so that the responsiveness and the target valve timing are controlled. Convergence and the like will be surely improved. (B) The duty ratio dH to be held is calculated, and the actual valve timing V when the duty ratio dH is held
By calculating the displacement speed SV of the camshaft 10 based on the amount of change of T per predetermined time (t2-t1), the displacement speed SV of the camshaft 10 can be obtained as a universal value. Like That is, the correction of the response delay compensation duty ratio d based on the comparison with the reference value SVstd for the same displacement speed can be made more reliable. (C) Further, the duty ratio dH to be held is obtained based on the above equation (2), so that the duty ratio d for the response delay compensation and the correction of the duty ratio d are simultaneously performed. In addition to the above-mentioned improvement in controllability, extremely efficient valve timing control will be realized. (D) Displacement speed SV of camshaft 10 calculated above
And the reference value SVstd for the same displacement speed are corrected, the duty ratio d for the response delay compensation is corrected by a certain amount, thereby increasing the calculation load on the electronic control unit 80. Will also be minimized. Many excellent effects can be achieved.

In the apparatus according to the present embodiment, as described in (d) above, the duty ratio d for the response delay compensation is corrected by a fixed amount. However, such a correction mode itself is arbitrary. For example, as shown in FIG. 11, it is possible to additionally calculate how fast or slower the calculated displacement speed SV is than the reference speed SVstd. The correction amount for the response delay compensation duty ratio d is positively changed according to the degree of the difference. It is also possible to adopt such a correction mode.

If such a correction mode is adopted, the amount of calculation in the electronic control unit 80 increases a little, but in any case, the correction speed is corrected to a displacement speed closer to the reference speed SVstd, and its responsiveness is improved. Also, the convergence to the target valve timing is improved.

Further, in the apparatus of the same embodiment, the duty ratio dH to be held is determined based on the above equation (2), like the duty ratio d for the response delay compensation. However, the duty ratio dH to be held is not limited to such a value and is arbitrary, and when the difference | VT-VTT | is generated in the valve timing, even if the duty ratio dH is maintained, It only has to be a value that does not impair the controllability of the control system.

Further, in the apparatus of the embodiment, since the system in which the valve timing is adjusted by controlling the duty of driving the oil control valve 55 is assumed, the above correction is also performed on the duty ratio d. 1. A valve timing adjusting means for displacing a rotational phase of a camshaft with respect to a rotational phase of an output shaft of an internal combustion engine to adjust operation timing of at least one of an intake valve and an exhaust valve, and a rotational phase of the engine output shaft. An actual valve timing calculation means for calculating the actual operation timing of the valve based on the phase difference from the rotational phase of the camshaft, and a target valve timing calculation means for calculating the target operation timing of the valve based on the operating state of the engine. A control unit that sets a control gain of the valve timing adjusting unit so that the actual valve timing matches the target valve timing based on these calculated values; and the valve timing adjusting unit calculates the valve timing when the valve timing is adjusted. Based on the actual valve timing transition Displacement speed calculation means for calculating the rotational phase displacement speed of the camshaft is compared with the calculated rotational phase displacement speed and a reference value for the same displacement speed, so that the speed difference is corrected.
