Abstract

PURPOSE: To execute image pickup operation under a proper condition by controlling a switchable aspect ratio conversion processing part and a picture processing part in accordance with an aspect ratio specified by an aspect ratio specifying means. CONSTITUTION: A defect correction processing part 30 executes the defect correction processing of respective CCD image sensors 10A, 10G, 10B about respective color picture data supplied from a preprocessing part 20 and outputs respective correction results to an aspect ratio conversion processing part 40. Respective time base conversion parts 41R, 41G, 41B in the processing part 40 write input picture data with a 1st aspect ratio (16:9), i.e., respective color picture data digitized by respective A/D converters 22R, 22G, 22B, in an FIFO memory at the writing clock of a 1st sampling rate. When the picture data are read out from the memory at the reading clock of a 2nd sampling rate, a picture frame of 4:3 is segmented from a picture frame of 16:9, so that 4/3 multiple time base expansion processing for outputting 4:3 picture data at the 2nd sampling rate is executed.

Here, each of the sampling rate converters 42R, 42G and 42B is, for example, disclosed in JP-A-4-1857.
The time axis conversion unit 41 is composed of a rate converter filter which performs a filtering process by sequentially switching the filter coefficient at the output rate as disclosed in Japanese Patent Publication No. 74-74.
For the image data of the image frame of the second aspect ratio of 4: 3 generated by R, 41G, and 41B, that is, the image data of the second sampling rate, a positive integer n is set to 2, for example, 4n (= 8 ) Sampling rate conversion processing with a conversion ratio of 3: 4 is performed by performing 1 / 3n (= 1/6) downsampling after double oversampling, and the second aspect of 4: 3 at the first sampling rate. Generate image data Video out of the ratio image frame.
The rate converter filter for performing the filtering process by sequentially switching the filter coefficient at the output rate is composed of a register pre-type FIR filter and a register post-type FIR filter.
