Description: TECHNICAL FIELD The present invention relates to a coordinate input method for a pointing device in a computer system, and more particularly, to moving a cursor by moving a pointing device such as a mouse. Then, the present invention relates to a coordinate input device suitable for capturing the position inside the computer. [Prior Art] When inputting the display position coordinates of data on the image monitor surface in a computer system or the like, a pointing device called a mouse or a light pen is widely used. . By the way, in such a case, it is desirable that the cursor moving operation by the above-mentioned pointing device can be accurately performed in the shortest possible time.

Therefore, for this purpose, the moving distance of the cursor on the image monitor surface can be shortened, and at this time, the faster the moving speed of the cursor is, the better the moving speed of the cursor is from the viewpoint of shortening the required time. From the viewpoint of accurately stopping the cursor, it is better that the cursor moves slowly. Therefore, conventionally, there is known one in which a plurality of cursors are displayed and one of them is designated as a valid one, as described in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 61-82224. [Problems to be Solved by the Invention] In the above-mentioned conventional technique, when a pointing device such as a mouse is moved, the cursor moved by this is 1, and the rest are merely waiting at a predetermined position. No consideration is given to the case where the cursor needs to be moved to an arbitrary position, and it is effective when the place to move the cursor is limited to a fixed position on the monitor screen. However, there was a problem that it was difficult to use.

The above object is to display at least two cursors that move according to one pointing device on the image monitor screen, and at least one of the moving direction and the moving speed of the plurality of cursors is different for each cursor. It is achieved by making it possible to arbitrarily set to. [Operation] The cursors displayed on the image monitor surface move in unison by moving a pointing device such as a mouse. The respective moving directions and moving speeds of these cursors are It will be different based on the data stored in the settings. Therefore, by selecting the cursor that first reaches the position closest to the desired position while moving the cursor, the coordinate position can be input easily, accurately, and in a short time. . [Embodiment] Hereinafter, the coordinate input device according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the illustrated embodiment. FIG. 1 is a Blotz diagram showing an embodiment of a coordinate input device according to the present invention. In this figure, 1 is a pointing device such as a mouse, 2 is a pointing device interface unit, and 3 is the amount of movement of the pointing device. Pointing device movement amount storage means for setting and storing, 4 is cursor movement rate storage means for setting and storing the cursor movement speed and movement direction, 5 is cursor display position storage means for setting and storing the cursor display position, 6 Is a coordinate calculation means for calculating the display position of the cursor, 7 is a cursor number storage means for setting and storing the currently valid cursor, 8 is a cursor display control means for displaying a plurality of cursors on the display monitor 11, 9 is a plurality of cursors Cursor selection means for selecting one cursor from among the cursors, 10 is cursor combination means for moving a plurality of cursors to the same position, and 12 is the same. A cursor number storage means for setting storing the number of cursors that can be displayed on. The poing device 1 is a switch normally used (hereinafter,
There is one switch (referred to as a general switch) and one switch for forcibly moving a plurality of cursors to the same position (hereinafter referred to as a combined switch). The plurality of cursor movement rate storage means 4 and the cursor display position storage means 5 are provided with corresponding numbers 1 to N (hereinafter referred to as cursor numbers). Information on how many of N cursors are displayed simultaneously is stored in the cursor number storage means 12, and is referred to when calculating the coordinates of a plurality of cursors. In the following explanation, n cursors (1n
It is assumed that the information N) is stored.
That is, the coordinate calculation is performed n times each time the pointing device 1 moves, and when n <N,
The cursor movement rate storage means 4 and the cursor display position storage means 5 corresponding to the cursor numbers n + 1 to N are not used. In addition, one cursor number is always stored in the cursor number storage means 7, and the cursor corresponding to this cursor number (hereinafter, this cursor is referred to as a real cursor) becomes a valid cursor, and only this cursor moves. It has both a function and a coordinate input function. And the other remaining cursors (hereinafter referred to as ghost cursors) have only the moving function among these functions. Both the real cursor and the ghost cursor are displayed by the cursor display control means 8 so that they can be distinguished from each other by a difference in brightness or a difference in color. Next, the operation of this embodiment will be described. When this coordinate input device is activated, the number of cursors n, the cursor number of the real cursor, the plurality of cursor movement rates, and the initial value of the cursor display position are respectively the cursor number storage means 12, the cursor number storage means 7, and the cursor movement. The rate storage means 4 and the cursor display position storage means 5 are set and stored, and the n cursors are respectively displayed at the initial positions of the display monitor 11. At this time, the display positions of these cursors can be arbitrarily set at any time, and all or part of them may occupy the same display position. Next, when the pointing device 1 is moved, the movement amount information is set and stored in the pointing device movement amount storage means 3 through the interface unit 2. As a result, the coordinate calculation means 6 follows the contents of the pointing device movement amount storage means 3, the cursor movement rate storage means 4 corresponding to the cursor numbers 1 to n, and the cursor display position storage means 5, and the coordinates to be displayed next. Is calculated n times, and the cursor display position storage means 5 corresponding to the cursor numbers 1 to n
Set and memorize again. As a result, the cursor display control means 8 displays n cursors on the display monitor 11, and as a result, the n cursors are moved at the same time. Next, FIG. 2 is a flow chart showing a procedure for calculating the display position of the cursor by moving the pointing device 1. First, in step 13, the counter of the cursor is set to i, and in the following step 14, the end of coordinate calculation is determined by comparing the counter i and the number of cursors n. Next, at step 15, first, the movement amount ΔX of the X coordinate and the movement amount ΔY of the Y coordinate of the pointing device 1 are read, and then at step 16, the cursor movement speed corresponding to the same cursor number as the counter i. Vi, the cursor movement direction θi, and in step 17, the X coordinate corresponding to the same cursor number as the counter i and the cursor display position Xi are read. In step 18, the next display position Xi 'is calculated by the following equation (1). Xi ′ = Xi + Vi (ΔX · cos θi-ΔY · sin θi) (1) Then, in step 19, the value of the display position Xi is set and stored again, and in step 20, the counter i is updated. That is, the next display position of each of the n cursors is calculated by repeating these steps 14 to 20. On the other hand, the same applies to the next display position Yi ′ on the Y coordinate, which is calculated by the following equation (2). Yi ′ = Yi + Vi (ΔX · sin θ + ΔY · cos θi) (2) By the way, as described above, in this embodiment, only the real cursor has a function of inputting coordinates, but in the ghost cursor , If there is an object at a position more suitable than the current real cursor, you can change the ghost cursor to the real cursor. Change to this real cursor as follows.
That is, when the selection switch of the pointing device 1 is operated, the ghost cursor on the display screen is sequentially changed to the real cursor by pressing this switch. Hereinafter, returning to FIG. 1, the procedure for changing to the real cursor will be described in more detail. Now, assuming that the selection switch (general switch) of the pointing device 1 is pressed, the pressed information is passed to the cursor selection means 8 via the interface unit 2, and the information is judged here and the cursor display control is performed. The cursor number stored in the means 7 is, for example, N
If it was o.1, it was No.2, and if it was No.2,
It is changed to the next cursor number, such as No.3. As a result, the cursor display control means 7 switches the real cursor and the ghost cursor on the display screen. FIG. 3 is a flow chart showing the above operation. First, in step 21, the cursor number m of the real cursor is read out, and in step 22, the next 1 is added to this number m to Calculate the cursor number m '. At this time, it is checked in the next step 23 whether or not the cursor number m'exceeds the actual number n of cursors. If it exceeds, the number m'is reset to 1 in step 24. Then, in a succeeding step 25, the setting memory of the next cursor number m'is corrected to end the real cursor changing process. By the way, as described above, in this embodiment, a plurality of cursors scattered at arbitrary positions on the display screen of the display monitor 11 are forcibly moved to the same position as the real cursor (referred to as coalescence). be able to. This operation is performed by the uniting switch of the pointing device 1. That is, in FIG. 1, when the uniting switch of the pointing device 1 is pressed, this information is passed to the cursor uniting means 9 via the interface unit 2.
Therefore, this information is judged by the cursor combination means 9, and as a result, the cursor number stored in the cursor number storage means 7 is read out, and the contents of the cursor display position storage means 5 corresponding to this number are read out. Copy to other n-1 cursor display position storage means 5. As a result, the cursor display control means 7 displays n cursors on the display screen according to the contents of the cursor display position storage means 5. However, as it is, since all coordinates are the same, only one cursor is still displayed on the screen. The above operation will be described with reference to the flow chart of FIG.
First, in step 26, the cursor number m of the real cursor is read out, and in step 27, the X coordinate Xm of the display position of the real cursor is read out. In step 28, the counter i is set, and in step 29, the data i and n are compared, and it is determined whether or not the processing is completed. In the next step 30, the X coordinate value Xm of the real cursor is copied to the X coordinate value Xm of the cursor display position corresponding to the same cursor number as the counter i. In the following step 31, the counter i is updated. Then, by repeating the processing of steps 29 to 31, the display positions of the n cursors are all the same as the X coordinate of the real cursor. Since the same applies to the Y coordinate, the explanation is omitted. Here, the overall configuration of the coordinate input device according to this embodiment will be described. First, Fig. 5 shows the external appearance. Reference numeral 32 is a display device, 33 is a main processing unit, 34 is a keyboard, and 1 is a pointing device such as a mouse. Next, FIG. 6 is a Blotz diagram showing the detailed configuration of the processing unit 33. In the figure, 36 is a microprocessor MPU, 37 is a read-only memory device ROM, 38 is a read-write writable memory device RAM, 39 Is a register that stores the display position of the cursor. Here, the ROM 37 or the RAM 38 stores a program necessary for the operation of this embodiment, which is read out by the MPU 36 and executed. The register 39 stores the amount of movement of the pointing device 1, the movement rates and display positions of a plurality of cursors, the cursor number, and the number of cursors.
Moreover, these various data are sequentially reset by the movement of the pointing device 1 or the operation of the selection switch provided there. Next, a specific cursor moving process according to this embodiment will be described. First, FIG. 7 shows an example in which the movement rates of two cursors are set to different values, and it is assumed that the cursors are initially set and displayed at the position 42 of the image display surface 47 as shown in the figure. At this time, the real cursor and the ghost cursor are united at the position 42. At this time, assume that the moving ratio between the real cursor and the ghost cursor is set to 1 to 4. Therefore, assuming that the pointing device 1 is moved from the position 45 to the position 46, the real cursor which is set in the normal movement mode corresponding to the movement of the pointing device 1 is The position moves from the position 42 to a position 43 by moving the same distance as the pointing device 1 moves to the position 43. On the other hand, the ghost cursor moves to the position 44 at this time, where the ghost cursor moves. When the position 44 is closer to the target position intended by the operator, if the ghost cursor is changed to the real cursor by operating the selection switch of the pointing device 1, the time required to move the cursor is shortened. The processing time can be shortened. By the way, this time, the cursor at the position 44 has changed to a real cursor, and this real cursor has a movement speed four times as fast as the movement of the pointing device 1, but this is not preferable. Has
The real cursor may be changed by operating the combination switch of the pointing device 1 and further operating the selection switch. This way the display device
Only the real cursor at position 44 is displayed on the 32 monitor surface, and this real cursor has a normal movement rate. That is, after this operation, when the pointing device 1 is moved, it is the real cursor that moves at the normal movement rate, and the ghost cursor that moves at the movement rate of 4. Next, FIG. 8 shows a case where a real cursor having a normal moving rate and three ghost cursors whose moving directions are different from each other by 90 degrees, 180 degrees, and 270 degrees respectively are set. It is shown. Currently, the cursor is docked at position 48 on display screen 55,
Moreover, it is assumed that the pointing device 1 is placed at the position 53. Here, 56 indicates some object, such as a keyboard, which is an obstacle to moving the pointing device 1, and the presence of the object 56 causes the pointing device 1 to remain in position.
It is assumed that it cannot move to the left from 53. Now, in this state, if the position on the display screen 55 to which the cursor is to be moved is on the right side of the position 48, conventionally, here, the pointing device 1 is replaced or the object 56 is moved. In the present embodiment, the pointing device 1 is moved to the position 54, and the ghost cursor moved to the position 51 is changed to the real cursor. The speed of movement can be increased. Fig. 9 shows the case where a real cursor with a normal movement rate and a ghost cursor with a movement rate of 1/4 are set. It is assumed that the cursor is currently united at the position 57 on the display screen 62 and the pointing device 1 is at the position 60 shown in the figure. Here, assume that it is necessary to position the cursor at a delicate position near position 57. For this reason, it is assumed that the pointing device 1 is moved from the position 60 to the position 61. This causes the real cursor to move to position 59, but at the same time the ghost cursor moves only to position 58. In other words, at this time, the ghost cursor moves finely near the position 57, even though the pointing device 1 is moved considerably large, and while paying attention to the blurring of the pointing device 1,
The desired fine positioning can be performed easily and in a short time without careful operation. Needless to say, at this time, when positioning is completed, the ghost cursor should be changed to the real cursor there. Next, FIG. 10 shows an operation example when the above-described embodiment of the present invention is applied at the time of creating a graph. The X-axis of the graph is shown according to the real cursor and the coordinate values of the real cursor. This is an example of setting two ghost cursors that move on the and Y axes. Now, it is assumed that the pointing device 1 is at the position 69 and accordingly the real cursor is at the position 63 on the display screen 71. Correspondingly, one of the two ghost cursors is displayed at the position 64 on the X axis and the other at the position 65 on the Y axis. Next, it is assumed that the pointing device 1 is moved from the initial position 69 to the position 70. Then, the real cursor first moves from position 63 to position 66 accordingly. Further, accordingly, first, one of the ghost cursors is moved from the position 64 to the position 67 on the X axis corresponding to the position 66 of the real cursor, and the other ghost cursor is moved from the position 65 to the Y position. It will move to the position 68 corresponding to the position 66 of the real cursor on the axis. Therefore, at this time, according to the movement of the real cursor, the two ghost cursors move while showing the coordinate values on the X-axis and the Y-axis of the real cursor, respectively, which gives a reference to the cursor operation. Therefore, the graph creation work can be facilitated. By the way, in this embodiment, as described above, the number of cursors and their moving ratios can be arbitrarily set. That is, these can be arbitrarily set and changed by operating the keyboard 34 (FIG. 5). Note that this operation may be performed using any input device other than the keyboard. FIG. 11 is a flow chart showing the procedure for setting the number of cursors and the cursor movement rate by keyboard input. When this process starts, first, at step 72, the number of cursors n
Enter. Next, in step 73, the counter i is set to 1, and in the following step 74, the data i and n are compared,
Determine the end. In step 75, the moving speed Vi having the same cursor number as the counter i is input, and then step 76
Then, similarly, the moving direction θi of the same cursor number as the counter i is input (for example, moving speed Vi = 4, moving direction θi
= 90 °). Then, in step 77, after updating the counter, the process returns to the determination in step 74, and if the data i exceeds n, the process ends there. That is, by repeating the processing of steps 74 to 77, n
The moving ratio of the cursors is set, and as a result, the number of cursors n is stored in the cursor number storage means 12 and n.
The cursor movement rate of the individual cursor movement rate storage means 4 (1
n) will be set and stored respectively. If multiple cursors are not required, the number of cursors may be set to 1, the moving speed of the cursors may be set to 1, and the moving direction of the cursors may be set to 0 °. It can be operated in the same way as a general system. Also, from the viewpoint of operability, the normal movement rate is always set and stored in the cursor number 1, and any cursor gallial cursor can be merged anyway so that the real cursor becomes the cursor number 1. It may be set again. Therefore, according to this embodiment, it is possible to display a plurality of real cursors and ghost cursors having different properties arbitrarily on the image display surface of the display monitor according to the content of the data to be processed. The time required for coordinate input processing using the cursor can be shortened sufficiently. [Effects of the Invention] As described above, according to the present invention, as a result of focusing on using two types of cursors, a real cursor and a ghost cursor, and further preparing a plurality of these cursors,
During data processing, the number of cursors to be used and the movement characteristics can be set arbitrarily according to the mode of data display on the display screen, and the optimum cursor is always selected as the real cursor. , The coordinate input process using the cursor can be performed accurately at high speed, and the efficiency of the process can be sufficiently improved.
