The present invention relates to an optical device for measuring the refractive index and the like of a liquid to be measured by an optical means, and particularly to an optical prism which is a main part of the optical device.

[Prior art]

As a conventional optical device of this type, for example, an optical device as shown in FIG. 4 is used as a device for measuring the refractive index of a liquid and measuring the sugar concentration of the liquid to be measured based on the data of the refractive index. Some use fiber. This is composed of a light emitting section 50, a light receiving section 20, an optical branching device 30, a reflecting film 70, optical fibers 40, 80, etc. Specifically, the optical fiber 40 is provided from the light emitting section 50. The optical branching device 30 is provided at the tip portion, and the optical branching device 30 is provided with an optical fiber having a core portion 10 having a bent tip portion. Furthermore, the reflection film 70 is provided at the tip of the core portion 10. Further, another optical fiber 80 is provided from the optical branching device 30, and the light receiving portion 20 is provided at the tip of the optical fiber 80.

In such a configuration, the light beam emitted from the light emitting unit 50 propagates to the optical branching device 30 via the optical fiber 40, and then propagates to the core unit 10. In the core portion 10, the light beam undergoes total reflection according to the difference in refractive index between the core portion 10 and the measured liquid 60 in contact therewith, and a part of the light is emitted from the measured liquid body 60. While refracting to the side, the remaining part is totally reflected at the boundary surface and returns to the inside of the core portion 10. The returned light beam is reflected by the reflection film 70 provided at the tip of the core portion 10, and returns to the optical branching device 30 via the core portion 10 again. The light enters the light receiving unit 20 from here via the optical fiber 80. Then, the light receiving unit 20 detects the amount of received light. On the other hand, the amount of light totally reflected by the boundary surface is determined by the ratio between the refractive index (N CO ) of the core portion (optical fiber) 10 and the refractive index (n) of the measured liquid 60. Therefore, the refractive index of the measured liquid 60 is measured by measuring the light amount of the total reflected light detected by the light receiving unit 20, and the sugar concentration and the like of the measured liquid 60 is measured based on the refractive index data. Will be done.

[Problems to be solved by the device]

By the way, the above-mentioned optical device uses an optical fiber for a detection section (sensor section) which is an optical system. That is, the sensor portion is composed of the core portion 10 made of an optical fiber, but since this portion is formed of a thin optical fiber, there is a problem that it is easily broken. In order to solve such a problem, an optical fiber is not used for the detection part, and a prism which is stable in terms of strength is used, and it has already been devised and known. However, the prism used in such a conventional optical device has a problem such as leakage of a light beam in the sensor section. It is an object (problem) of the present invention to provide a prism for an optical device that solves these problems.

【0005】[0005]

[Means for Solving the Problems]

In order to solve the above problems, the present invention has taken the following measures. That is, the incident optical flux is totally reflected at the boundary surface in contact with the liquid to be measured, and the amount of the totally reflected luminous flux is measured to measure the refractive index of the liquid to be measured. In the optical prism used in the device, the upper surface has a total reflection surface composed of a table-shaped flat surface portion, and at both ends of the total reflection surface, there are legs extending downward from the both ends, respectively. Each of the legs has an entrance surface and an exit surface that form a predetermined angle of inclination with respect to the total reflection surface, and a cavity is formed between the left and right legs. It was decided to adopt a configuration with an arch portion formed.

【0006】[0006]

[Action]

By adopting the above configuration, the present invention has the following effects. That is, in FIG. 2, the liquid to be measured 95 is dropped on the total reflection surface 1. In such a state, a light beam is emitted from the light emitting device 92. The light beam is incident on the incident surface 2 of the optical prism as a light beam having a fixed solid angle, and proceeds to the total reflection surface 1 in contact with the liquid 95 to be measured. A part of the incident light flux is refracted at the total reflection surface 1 and enters the liquid to be measured 95 side, and the other remaining part is totally reflected and proceeds to the emission surface 3 side. The light receiving device 93 detects and measures the amount of this totally reflected light flux.

By the way, the state of total reflection of the light flux on the total reflection surface 1 is determined by the ratio between the refractive index N of the optical prism and the refractive index n of the measured liquid 95. That is, according to Snell's law regarding refraction, sinr / sini = N / n. Here, i is the incident angle, r is the refraction angle, N is the refractive index of the prism, and n is the refractive index of the liquid to be measured. In the case of total reflection, r = 90 °, θ (= i) is the field angle, and the relational expression of sin θ = n / N holds. As a result, the critical angle θ becomes smaller as the refractive index n of the liquid to be measured becomes smaller. Therefore, the amount of light totally reflected increases. From these facts, the magnitude of the refractive index n of the measured liquid 95 is measured by increasing or decreasing the amount of light totally reflected. Based on the above operation, the optical device using the optical prism in the present invention operates, the refractive index n of the measured liquid 95 is measured, and the sugar content of the measured liquid 95 is measured based on this refractive index data. The concentration will be measured.

Further, in the present invention, as shown in FIG. 2, the light emitting device has a structure in which an arch portion 5 having a cavity is provided between the left and right leg portions 4 and 4 ′. The light beam emitted from 92 and incident on the incident surface 2 travels as shown by a solid arrow and advances to the emission surface 3, where it is measured by the light receiving device 93. Therefore, it becomes possible to avoid the leakage phenomenon of the luminous flux, which has been a problem in the solid prism without the arch portion 5 as in the conventional one. That is, it becomes possible to solve the problem that the luminous flux from the light emitting device 92 proceeds as shown by the broken line arrow and is measured by the light receiving device 93.

An embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. As shown in FIG. 1, the structure of the present embodiment is basically of a trapezoidal shape, which is inverted and the bottom part of the trapezoid is directed to the upper surface, and is used as an optical prism in such a state. It was done like this. That is, as shown in FIG. 1, the optical prism of the present embodiment has a total reflection surface 1 formed of a table-like flat surface on the upper surface, and has both ends of the total reflection surface 1 from the both ends. It is configured to have leg portions 4 and 4'extending downward. In addition, the incident surface 2 and the exit surface 3 are formed at a predetermined angle with respect to the above-described total reflection surface 1, that is, an inclination angle of 63 ° in the present embodiment, on the outer portions of the legs 4 and 4 '. In addition to being provided, an arch portion 5 that forms a cavity is provided between the left and right leg portions 4 and 4 '.

In such a structure, specifically, the optical prism is made of an acrylic resin having a refractive index of 1.49, and the acrylic resin is used as a material in a mold or the like. It is molded. In addition, in the above structure, the total reflection surface 1, the entrance surface 2, and the exit surface 3 that perform the function of the optical system are all mirror-finished. The other part, particularly the arch part 5, has a rough surface so that light does not leak.

The optical prism having such a configuration is installed in a case 91 as shown in FIG. 2, and further, a light emitting device 92 including a light emitting diode or the like is installed on the incident surface 2 side, and the emission is performed. A light receiving device 93 including a photo sensor and the like is provided on the surface 3 side, and an optical system is formed by these. As shown in FIG. 3, such an optical system is housed in a housing 99, and other functional components are attached to a substrate 98, so that an optical device such as a refractometer is formed as a whole.

The operation of this embodiment having the above configuration will be described. First, in FIG. 2, the present optical prism having the table-shaped total reflection surface 1 is installed in the case 91 such that the total reflection surface 1 is the upper surface. In this case, a light emitting device 92 is installed on the incident surface 2 side of the optical prism, and a light receiving device 93 is installed on the emitting surface 93 side of the case 91. In such a state, when a light beam (light flux) is emitted from the light emitting device 92, the light flux enters the incident surface 2 and advances toward the total reflection surface 1 as indicated by a solid arrow. Then, on the total reflection surface 1, a part of the light flux is refracted toward the liquid to be measured 95 side, while the other remaining light flux undergoes total reflection and travels to the emission surface 3 side. To the light receiving device 93, and the light amount of the totally reflected light flux is measured by the light receiving device 93.

By the way, the ratio of the total reflection is determined by the relationship between the refractive index N of the optical prism and the refractive index n of the liquid under measurement 95. According to Snell's law or the like, the critical angle θ increases as the refractive index n of the measured liquid 95 increases, so that the amount of total reflected light for the light flux from the incident surface 2 decreases. Therefore, the amount of light flux detected by the light receiving device 93 on the emission surface 3 also decreases. As a result, the refractive index n 1 of the measured liquid 95 is measured depending on the amount of light detected (measured) by the light receiving device 93.

In such an operating state, further, in this embodiment, as shown in FIG. 2, the arch portion 5 forming a cavity is provided between the leg portions 4 and 4 ′. This means that the light flux incident on the incident surface 2 is stopped due to irregular reflection or the like even if a part of the light flux travels as shown by the broken arrow, and the light travel is stopped at the surface of the arch portion 5. . As a result, the light flux due to the irregular reflection does not proceed to the exit surface 3 side as in the conventional one. That is, the leakage phenomenon to the light receiving device 93 side does not occur. This makes it possible to form an optical device with high measurement accuracy.

[Effect of device]

According to the present invention, an optical device that totally reflects incident light at its boundary surface in contact with the liquid to be measured and measures the amount of the totally reflected light flux to measure the refractive index of the liquid to be measured. In the optical prism used in the optical device, a top surface has a total reflection surface formed of a table-shaped flat surface, and both ends of the total reflection surface have leg portions extending downward from the both ends. And an entrance surface and an exit surface formed at a predetermined inclination angle with respect to the total reflection surface on the outer side of each leg, and between the left and right legs. In addition, because the structure has an arched part that forms a cavity, it is possible to prevent diffused reflected light, etc. from advancing to the emission surface side in the above-mentioned arched part, and the incident light flux leakage phenomenon. Can be prevented. As a result, only the totally reflected light flux can be made to travel to the emission surface side, and the amount of totally reflected light detected by the light receiving device can be accurately measured. In addition, the cavity provided in the above-mentioned arch portion makes it possible to reduce the weight of the optical prism itself and prevent the occurrence of sink marks during molding, thereby adopting the optical prism. It is now possible to reduce the weight of the entire optical device.
