2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, the treatment of a large amount of waste discharged from homes and factories has become a serious social problem. These wastes are usually treated by methods such as incineration and landfill. On the other hand, there are a large number of hospitals, clinics, public health centers, and other medical facilities and medical research and testing facilities all over the country, and these facilities also discharge a large amount of medical waste every day. Some of such medical wastes have infectious bacteria or viruses attached to them, and cannot be treated like ordinary wastes. That is, even if incinerated, there is a problem in transportation to the incineration site, and it cannot be discarded as it is at the landfill site. Therefore, regardless of the final treatment method, they must be disinfected in the facility and released to the outside in a harmless manner.

The medical waste crushed by the crusher 5 is then introduced into a stirring tank 9 equipped with a stirring blade 8.
In the stirring tank 9, a disinfecting solution 10 made of an aqueous solution containing, for example, 2000 ppm of chlorine dioxide is stored. The concentration of chlorine dioxide in the disinfectant solution 10 is detected by a sensor-S (installed in the agitation tank 9 in the figure) installed in the agitation tank 9 or the disinfectant solution supply system 7, and chlorine dioxide is detected according to the detected value. Chlorine dioxide is added from the generator 11. The medical waste sterilized by being stirred in the disinfectant solution 10 in the stirring tank 9 for about 5 minutes is transferred from the stirring tank 9 to the outside by the discharge auger 12, and is removed by the compression sleeve during the transfer. Be liquefied. During this deliquoring process, sodium bisulfite is added to the medical waste to neutralize residual chlorine dioxide adhering to the medical waste. The medical waste that has been deliquified in the discharge auger 12 and transported is temporarily stored in the storage tank 13, compressed or packaged so as to be easily discarded as necessary, and then disposed of.

On the other hand, the residual disinfectant solution recovered in the discharge auger 12 is recycled to the stirring tank 9 or the disinfectant solution supply system 7. Further, the entire system is always maintained at a reduced pressure by a fan (not shown), and the exhaust gas from the fan is
It is discharged to the outside through the APA filter. The concentration of chlorine dioxide in the exhaust gas is 0.05 ppm or less.
The exhaust gas may be washed with an odor scrubber in order to further remove the odor caused by chlorine dioxide in the exhaust gas. In this case, sodium bisulfite can be used as the cleaning liquid. Thus, the system is a closed system, and chlorine dioxide is hardly discharged to the outside. The above processes are all automatically performed by the controller-4. That is, the controller-4 includes not only the valve 3 but also the crusher 5, the stirring blades 8, the discharge auger 12,
It controls the operation of valves, pumps and fans of the disinfecting liquid supply system 7. That is, when the valve 3 is opened by the controller-4, the crusher 5, the stirring blades 8 and the discharge auger 12 are operated. Then, when the valve 3 is closed, the supply of the disinfectant solution from the disinfectant solution supply system 7 is started.
