When calibrating the camera position and orientation, the camera observes multiple points whose positions in the spatial coordinate system are known, collects the position data of the multiple points using the obtained image, and Calibrate the parameters. Here, a point whose position is known is called a mark. Conventionally, as the mark, the vertex of the rectangular parallelepiped, the edge of the rectangular parallelepiped, or the intersection of the lattice written on the upper surface of the rectangular parallelepiped has been used.

There are the following common drawbacks.

1)カメラの方向によつてマークが見え隠れする。例えば

1) The mark appears and disappears depending on the direction of the camera. For example, marks 5, 6, and 7 in FIG. 9 and marks 16 to 2 in FIG.
There is a case where 3 becomes invisible from the camera. Since it is not possible to know the camera direction accurately only with the mark on one plane, the camera position / orientation parameter cannot be obtained depending on the position of the camera.

2)マーク数が限られる。特にカメラから遠い位置にある

2) The number of marks is limited. In particular, since the number of marks located far from the camera is limited, the accuracy of the camera position / orientation parameter becomes poor.

3) The positions of marks projected on the camera screen tend to be localized. For example, the marks 5, 6, and 7 in FIG. 9 and the marks 16 to 23 in FIG. 10 tend to be concentrated on the lower side of the screen. For this reason, when the parameters are obtained, the parameter values may fluctuate abnormally depending on the camera position, resulting in low accuracy. For this reason,
Calibration reliability is low.

4) It is difficult to identify the mark. The mark identification requires recognition processing as a rectangular parallelepiped, and the identification of visible and hidden portions. Conventionally, as a solution to this problem,
Mark was given interactively using a joystick. In addition, the operator also determines the position in the real space of each mark given interactively by the operator at each time. For this reason, it takes time and labor for the operator to calibrate the parameters.

The above-mentioned drawbacks are listed above, but the above-mentioned drawbacks 1) to 3) are serious drawbacks in terms of the stability and accuracy of calibration, and the drawback 4).
This has hindered automation of calibration.

The mark data collection method for camera position / orientation calibration according to the present invention provides a mark aggregate including a plurality of marks that are three-dimensionally distributed, and having a mark having a size, brightness, or shape that can be distinguished from other marks. Using the marks that can be distinguished from the other marks described above, the arrangement order of the mark images in the image is identified, and the correspondence between the known real space coordinates of each arrangement position and the coordinates on the image surface of each mark image is determined. It's something I got to get.

FIG. 1 is a view of a first embodiment of a mark assembly 100 used in the present invention as viewed from the front, and FIG. 2 is a view of the mark assembly 100 as viewed obliquely from the lateral direction. The circular portions are white circle marks 101 and 102, and the other portions are black. The sizes of the white circle marks 101 and 102 are, for example, the odd-numbered mark 101 is 4 mmφ, and the even-numbered mark 1
02 is 6 mmφ. However, the third mark 102A from the left of row number 4 is 10 mmφ and the third mark 102B from the left of row number 5 is 8 mmφ so that they can be distinguished from other marks. The mark spacing is 50 mm. As shown in FIG. 2, the even-numbered marks 102 are attached to the upper surface of a black cylinder standing on the mark plate surface. The height of this column was 50 mm in the example. The mark may be black and the other parts may be white.

FIG. 5 shows the cross section of FIG. 4 and the light incident device. In this figure, 105 is a mark substrate, which is painted black. Reference numeral 106 is a light incident device. Many types of the length of the black cylinder 103 and the inner diameter of the cylinder are prepared. In the embodiment, the third
A cylinder having a length of 5 mm was attached to the mark positions in the odd rows shown in the figure, and a cylinder having a length of 55 mm was attached to the mark positions in the even rows. The inner diameter of the cylinder is 4 mm for the mark positions on the odd lines and 6 mm for the mark positions on the even lines, and 8 m for mark numbers 55 and 45 respectively.
m and 10 mm. Each optical fiber 1 with the light injection device 106
The light distributed to 04 is emitted at the tip of each optical fiber. Therefore, the brightness at the tip of the optical fiber becomes high and it can be used as a mark. In the light incident device 106, the light source is individually prepared depending on the mark position, and the light sources are individually turned on so that the light incident times are different, whereby the mark number can be easily identified. For example, only the mark 101 with an odd line number is turned on, the image of the mark is input, and then the mark 102 with an even line number is input.
Just turn on and enter the mark image. After the mark number is identified in each image, a mark table in which the mark number, mark image position (coordinates on the image plane), and mark real space coordinates are recorded is created.

6 (a) and 6 (b) use a light emitting diode instead of the optical fiber 104 used in the embodiment shown in FIG. 5, and can read in a dark place. In this figure, 107 is a black light emitting diode support rod, 108 is a light emitting diode, and 109 is an electrode lead wire. A plurality of light emitting diodes 108 having different light emitting areas and a plurality of support rods 107 having different lengths are prepared and arranged on the mark substrate 110 to form the mark assembly 100. It is also possible to simplify the mark identification algorithm by shifting the light emission of each light emitting diode 108 in time.

Since the ground passes through the support rod 107 and the mark substrate 110, the number of the electrode lead wires 109 may be one. The electrode lead wire 109 is embedded in the support rod 107 to prevent the electrode lead wire 109 from interfering with mark image detection. A mark image from a camera is input (1), the mark image is binarized (2), and isolated points smaller than individual mark images are removed (3), and then labeling processing is performed (4). Next, the circularity of each labeling area is examined, and the labeling area having a low circularity is removed as an unmarked unnecessary image. Next, the labeling area on the edge of the input image is removed.
(6). After that, the area of each labeling area is obtained, and the labeling area having the largest area and the area thereof are selected (7). Based on this area, four area sections are selected according to the size of the mark, and each labeling area is classified into four classes (8). In this example: a. A mark with the largest area, b. Finally, in step (12), a mark table is created in which the mark numbers, the coordinates of the marks on the image plane, and the known real-space coordinates of the marks, which correspond one-to-one with the mark numbers, are recorded.
