Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of a model and highly accurately control an intake air temperature by interposing a spacer between a surge tank part and a throttle body in an intake manifold, and arranging an intake air system cooling water passage independently from an engine system cooling water passage. CONSTITUTION:A spacer 78 is interposed between a surge tank part 74 and a throttle body 82 in an intake air manifold 54. A tank side cooling water groove 94 is formed on the end face of the surge tank part 74. Additionally, a spacer side cooling water groove 96 is formed on the end face of the spacer 78 facing the tank side cooling water groove 94. Consequently, an intake air system cooling water passage 98 is constituted, and this passage is arranged in independently from the engine system cooling water passage. The cooling water is guided to from an entrance pipe 100 through the cooling water passage 98 to an exit pipe 102, and thereby the temperature of the intake air which flows in the vicinity of the throttle body 82 is regulated. Accordingly, the mold structure of the intake manifold 54 can be simplified, and the intake air temperature can be accurately controlled.

As is apparent from the above detailed description, according to the present invention, a spacer is provided between the surge tank portion of the intake manifold and the throttle body, and the tank side cooling water groove is provided on the tank end surface of the surge tank portion. The spacer side cooling water groove is formed on the spacer end surface of the spacer so as to face the tank side cooling water groove and forms the intake system cooling water passage, and the intake system cooling water passage is separated from the engine system cooling water passage. In addition, the structure of the intake manifold can be simplified and the intake temperature can be controlled with high accuracy.
