(Prior art) With thermal transfer recording, recording can be performed by controlling and operating a thermal head, laser, etc. using electrical signals.Furthermore, since coloring components are not transferred to areas other than the recorded area, the secondary image after recording is Since it has the advantage of preventing color development and the records obtained also have a natural feel, the number of machines using it has increased in recent years. Further, since the transfer layer of the transfer sheet in thermal transfer recording can be formed using process pigments used in ordinary printing, by repeating recording of each color, it is possible to record the same appearance and tone as color printing.

By the way, in order to record each color overlappingly, it is possible to use separate thermal transfer sheets capable of recording each color, but in such a method, the thermal transfer sheet must be replaced every time each color is recorded. In order to solve this problem, it is common to use a separately painted heat-sensitive transfer sheet in which areas of each color necessary for one heat-sensitive transfer sheet are painted separately, for example, in the length direction. However, even if the area is painted in this way, there is no guarantee that the desired color area will be thermally printed during recording, and each time,
It was necessary to check the transfer layer.

(Structure of the Invention) The heat-sensitive transfer sheet of the present invention is a color heat-sensitive transfer sheet in which a transfer layer made of a substance that softens, melts, or vaporizes when heated is coated on one side of a base sheet in two or more colors. In the non-transfer area of the base sheet, detection marks in the form of a barcode pattern indicating the color separation position and the hue of each area are continuously arranged parallel to the feeding direction of the thermal transfer sheet over the entire length of the thermal transfer sheet. It is characterized in that it is provided with

The thermal transfer sheet shown in FIG. 1 has a transfer layer 2 on one side of a base sheet 1, and has a barcode pattern detection mark 3 on the same side as the transfer layer 2. It should be noted that the present invention is not limited to that shown in FIG. 1, as long as the detection marks are continuously provided in the non-transfer area of the base sheet, parallel to the feeding direction of the heat-sensitive transfer sheet, and over the entire length of the heat-sensitive transfer sheet.

Note that the thermal transfer sheet is normally supplied in the form of a winding roll to a recording device equipped with a recording means such as a thermal head, so the detection mark is placed in the feeding direction (length) of the thermal transfer sheet as shown in Figure 2. direction)
Continuously provided parallel to. The detection mark of the barcode pattern of the present invention indicates the divided position of the divided heat-sensitive transfer sheet and the hue of each area. When coloring is done in the length direction, a barcode pattern detection mark is provided along the entire length of the thermal transfer sheet, and the coloring is applied, for example, at the position where the red color area ends and becomes the black color area. A bar code pattern is provided to indicate the dividing line and the black area. The coloring can be done in two colors, black and red, or in four colors, yellow, red, blue, and black, and can be done as desired. Information can be inserted into the detection mark as appropriate depending on the shape of the barcode pattern of the detection mark.

By providing a detection mark as described above,
If the pattern is optically readable, use a normal barcode reader such as a transmissive type or a reflective type, or turn on the optical density with only two values.
The detection mark can be read by detecting it as a -OFF signal, or if it is formed as a magnetic layer, the detection mark can be read using a magnetic head.

As the base sheet 1 of the heat-sensitive transfer sheet of the present invention, any material that is used as a base material for a normal heat-sensitive transfer sheet can be used, and a smooth and heat-resistant material is preferable. For example, plastic films such as polyester resin, polypropylene resin, cellophane, cellulose triacetate resin, polystyrene resin, polycarbonate resin, polyimide resin, glassine paper, condenser paper,
Examples include ledger paper, paper such as Indian paper, metal foil, and composites of the above materials. Examples of the composite include an aluminum/paper composite, metallized paper, and metallized plastic film. Further, the thickness of the base material as described above is preferably thinner from the viewpoint of thermal conductivity, and is usually 2 to 50 μm, preferably 4 to 20 μm. If it is less than 2μm, it will lack strength and be difficult to handle; if it is more than 50μm, the printed image
This is not practical because the resolution of characters decreases.

Next, the transfer layer 2 is made of a substance that softens, melts, or evaporates when heated. Typical transfer layers are formed by dispersing a colorant, such as an organic pigment, an inorganic pigment, a dye, or carbon black, in a binder. Binding materials include waxes such as paraffin wax, microcrystalline wax, polyethylene wax, beeswax, white wax, carnauba wax, Montan wax, ceresin wax, and castor wax, stearic acid, and stearic acid. Stearic acid and its derivatives such as amides, stearic acid metal salts, higher fatty acid amides, etc. are used. Alternatively, the binder may be a thermoplastic resin. In addition, the transfer layer 2 may be any layer as long as it softens, melts, or vaporizes at a temperature of 40° C. to 200° C. and transfers to the object to be transferred.

(Effects of the Invention) Since the thermal transfer sheet of the present invention has a detection mark of a barcode pattern, by reading the barcode pattern, it is possible to determine the boundary position of the color separation in the color separation type thermal transfer sheet. The hue of each painted area can be detected. Furthermore, it is possible to prevent wrinkles and sag during winding, and to prevent the edges of rolled products from being scratched. Furthermore, malfunctions due to dirt etc. do not occur.
