First, as shown in Fig. 3, a certain space (vacant time) 13 is provided after the already recorded information (including main information of tracks T2 to Ts and position information of track T1 ) 12 to record a new record. When recording the information 14, the user first reads the last value of the position information (in this example, "102") in the previously recorded information 12 while reproducing the previously recorded information 12, and then records the newly recorded information 14. The magnetic tape T is moved to the follow-up recording start position 15, and the position information of the follow-up record start position 15 is estimated from the last position information "102" of the previously read recorded information (in this example, it is "105"). ) Use the preset key to preset position information “105” and then new record information 14

Second, as shown in FIG. 4, new recorded information 14 is subsequently recorded without providing a space after the already recorded information 12 (including the main information of tracks T 2 to Ts and the position information of track T 1 ). When doing so, the user first moves the magnetic tape T to the trailing recording start position 15 while reproducing the previously recorded information, stops it, and reads the previously recorded position information ("104" in this example) at that time. The value obtained by adding 1 to this (“105” in this example)
must be preset using the preset key before recording the new record information 14.

In this state, when the user operates the follow-up recording key AR on the keyboard 26, the microcomputer 30 causes the key decoder 301 to provide a rewind (REW) signal to the mechanism control circuit 305 based on the operation. At the same time, a clear (CLR) signal is given to the up-down counter 302.

By entering this rewinding state, the mechanism drive circuit 31 feeds back data (pulses) related to the rewinding amount (movement amount) of the magnetic tape T to the microcomputer 30 and causes the up-down counter 302 to count it. . In addition,
The period of the pulses related to the amount of rewinding and the period of the position information may be set equal to each other with respect to the tape length, or may be set at different frequencies (however,
The period of the pulse related to the amount of rewinding may be made shorter than the period of the position information.

In the example shown in Figure 4 above, "104" is obtained as the last position information input at the same time as rewinding starts, and the third
In the example in the figure, after passing space 13 and reaching the location with location information "102", the location information is "102".
Therefore, when the detection circuit 305 detects this position information, the microcomputer 30 determines that the position information is present, and provides the currently detected position information "102" or "104" to the arithmetic circuit 303.
Then, the arithmetic circuit 303 calculates the positional information and the amount of movement due to rewinding of the magnetic tape T counted by the up-down counter 302 to calculate the positional information of the trailing recording start position.

In other words, if the period of pulses related to the amount of rewinding and the period of position information are made equal in terms of tape length, then the current position information and the value obtained by adding "1" to the count value of the up-down counter. Just add it up. In the example in Figure 3, the position information is ``102'' and the value ``1'' is the sum of the count value ``2'' of the up-down counter and the value ``1'' plus ``3.''
In the example of FIG. 4, "1" is added to the position information "104" and the count value "0" of the up-down counter.

Furthermore, if it is assumed that the period of the pulse related to the amount of rewinding and the period of the position information have different periods with respect to the tape length, the ratio between the two is known in advance.
The above calculation method is supplemented with conversion using this ratio. In other words, the ratio of the pulse period related to the amount of rewinding and the period of position information with respect to the tape length is ``1/

In addition, in the example of Figure 4, the up-down count value (assumed to be x 2 ) is "0 < x 2 <1a", so
This is multiplied by the above ratio to first find the value "0<x 2 /a<1" that matches the position information, and then the value "0" is obtained by rounding down the decimal places. Then, the value "1" obtained by adding "1" to this value and the current position information "104" are added.

Next, the position information detection circuit 306 outputs a detection signal and supplies the signal to the latch circuit 304 as a latch signal to latch the position information "105" of the above-mentioned trailing recording start position in the arithmetic circuit 303 and to move up and down. The counter 302 is set to a down-count state, and furthermore, it is given to the mechanism control circuit 305 as a fast forward (FWD) signal to cause the mechanism drive circuit 31 to switch the mechanism to the fast forward state.

Then, when the magnetic tape T returns to the original position 15, the microcomputer 30 detects this with the decoder 307, since the counter value of the up-down counter 302 becomes "0". 305 supplies a recording (REC) signal, and also supplies a preset signal to the position information generation circuit 22. Therefore, the mechanism enters the recording state, and the counter of the position information generating circuit 22 is preset in response to the information "105" of the trailing recording start position latched in the latch circuit 304.

In accordance with this recording start, the position information generation circuit 22
The positional information obtained by sequentially adding the reference clock obtained from the oscillation circuit 21 to the preset value is sent to the positional information recording head 25 via the modulation circuit 23 and the recording circuit 24 to record the track T of the magnetic tape T. 1 , and the digital encoding circuit 17
digitizes the main information obtained from the input terminal 16 and sends it to the main information recording head 20 via the modulation circuit 18 and recording circuit 19 and records it on the tracks T2 to Ts of the magnetic tape T, thereby creating the new record. Information 14 is recorded on the magnetic tape T.

In the above case, the presettable counter of the position information generation circuit 22 counts the position information recorded on the tape during recording, and the up-down counter 302 receives pulses from the mechanism drive circuit 31 during rewinding and fast forwarding. By this, the amount of movement of the tape is counted, so when the beginning is reached at the follow-up recording start position (first position), the amount of movement obtained by the up-down counter 302 and the amount obtained by the position information detection circuit 306 are counted. The added value of the position information is preset in the presettable counter, so that the presettable counter and the up-down counter 302 are matched.

The data (pulses) related to the amount of rewinding inputted from the mechanism drive circuit 31 to the up-down counter 302 are, for example, the number of pulses proportional to the amount of tape movement when a rotation sensor is brought into contact with the tape, and this number of pulses is detected. The technology to do this was published in Japanese Patent Publication No. 1983-
This is a well-known technique disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 186275 (detection using an idler having a tachometer) and Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 179954/1985 (detection using a tape speed detection roller, rotary encoder, photo interrupter, etc.).

In this state, as the magnetic tape T is being rewound, the mechanism drive circuit 31 gives pulses associated with the rewound to the up/down counter 302 for counting and supplying the arithmetic circuit 303. Since no information can be obtained, no detection signal can be output, and the magnetic tape T is finally run to its starting end.
