Abstract

PURPOSE:To minimize the wear of a photosensitive surface by reducing or eliminating pressure of contact of a blade and/or brush cleaning residue toner, etc., after the necessary minimum time for forming of a copy is passed. CONSTITUTION:The device consists of the blade 13 brought into contact with the photosensitive body 1 and scraping off the residue toner and paper dust stuck to the surface of it and an auger 13a, etc., ejecting the toner, etc., scraped off by the former. In this case, the tip of the blade 13 is brought into contact with and separated from the photosensitive body 1 by the rotation of a blade retaining arm 15. Then, the pressure of contact is reduced or eliminated after the necessary minimum time after the copy forming cycle is finished. That is, the blade retaining arm 15 is rotated against a spring 16 by having a rotary cam 17 rotated and although the blade 13 is not separated with space from the photosensitive body 1, it is moved in the direction which is slightly separated from a normal cleaning position and the contact pressure of the blade 13 to the photosensitive body 1 is reduced.

2. Description of the Related Art The above-mentioned cleaning method involves rubbing the surface of a photosensitive member with a blade or a brush commonly called a disturber brush to remove residual toner, paper dust, etc. adhering to the surface of the photosensitive member. This is a conventional cleaning method, but in this conventional cleaning method, the contact between the blade and the photosensitive member and / or the rotation of the brush, which causes abrasion of the surface layer of the photosensitive member, is performed over the entire operation range of the photosensitive member. I am trying. FIG. 17 shows the timing of the above-mentioned conventional blade or brush cleaning action. When the start switch is ON, (1) the photoconductor drive motor, (2) the blade contact solenoid or (3) the brush drive motor operates, Eventually, the operations required for making a copy are sequentially activated, and after the required number of copies are made, the functions such as charging, exposure, development, and transfer necessary for making a copy are sequentially stopped. However, the above (1) to (3) are for a while. It is working, and usually works until the last copy is ejected. In high-speed copying machines, the paper path after transfer is often long,
Meanwhile, the blade and / or the brush are in sliding contact with the photoconductor. In FIG. 17, l 1 is the time until the final copying surface of the photoconductor passes through the cleaning device, l 2 is the time until the above (1) to (3) are stopped after this l 1 has elapsed,
After all, the time indicated by l 2 becomes an extra cleaning operation time. The photoconductor may rotate several times within the time of l 2 .

As a means for improving the cleaning effect by the blade or / and the brush, it is conceivable to increase the contact force of the blade or / and the brush. As the surface of the photoconductor is worn away, the photosensitive material film is reduced. The abrasion of the photosensitive material film causes a phenomenon such as a decrease in chargeability thereof, resulting in deterioration of copy quality and shortening of photosensitive material life. Further, the above-mentioned wear may not occur uniformly, which causes a problem that the copy density becomes uneven. Further, when the photoconductor has projections, or when an endless belt having a joint is used as the photoconductor, these may cause scratches on the blade. The function required of the cleaning device is basically to clean the surface of the photoconductor, and to clean the surface of the photoconductor that is repeatedly used so that it can be used in the next step. Various methods for improving these basic functions have been proposed, but it is also known to increase the contact force between the blade and the photoconductor, increase the rotational speed of the brush, or increase the contact force with the photoconductor. ing. In the past, the cleaning ability and the above problems were suppressed to the extent that they could be compromised, but in recent years, the use of organic photoconductors has become popular, and endless belt-shaped organic photoconductors have also appeared. Therefore, the above-mentioned problems have become more prominent. The details are shown below. (A) As a method of manufacturing an organic photoreceptor, coating is the mainstream, and projections may be formed due to foreign matter intrusion during coating and drying. (B) There is a step at the joint for forming the endless belt. (C) In the case of the organic photoreceptor, many use a resin as a binder for its surface layer, and are easily worn. Further, many of them are so-called function-separated type such as providing a charge transport layer on the surface layer, and the surface potential of the photoreceptor changes even with the same amount of charged charges and light energy.

The present invention has been made in view of the above, and it is possible to reduce the abrasion of the surface of the photosensitive member by the blade or the brush as much as possible, and prevent the reduction of the photosensitive material film to reduce the copy quality and the photosensitive material life. It is an object of the present invention to provide a cleaning method for an electrostatic copying machine, which can prevent the shortening of the copying time and make a good copy without unevenness in the copy density for a long time.

In order to achieve the above object, a cleaning method for an electrostatic copying machine according to the present invention is to attach a blade or / and a brush to the surface of a photoconductor to attach it to the surface of the photoconductor. In the method for cleaning an electrostatic copying machine, which is configured to clean the remaining toner and paper dust, the contact pressure of the blade or / and the brush to the photoconductor is passed after the required minimum time l 1 after the end of the copy making cycle. The state is changed to either one of the reduced state and the separated state. Further, after the required minimum time l 1 has elapsed after the copy creation cycle is completed, the rotation speed of the brush is reduced to a predetermined rotation speed until the photoreceptor stops.

FIG. 3 shows the drive timings of the cam drive motor and the blade solenoid 18 with respect to the drive motor of the photoconductor 1 and the copy making cycle. That is, when the start switch is turned ON, (1) the photoconductor drive motor is driven, and (2) the solenoid 18 is excited to bring the blade 13 into urging contact with the surface of the photoconductor 1 by the spring 16. Eventually, (3) the operations required for making copies are sequentially activated to create the required number of copies. (4) After the completion of this copy making cycle, the blade solenoid 18 is demagnetized after the required minimum time l 1 after copying e.g. the time until the final copy surface of the photoconductor passes once through the cleaning device. Blade 13 is separated from the surface of photoreceptor 1. On the other hand, when the time l 1 cannot sufficiently perform cleaning of the photoconductor by passing the photoconductor final copy surface only once through the cleaning device, the rotary cam 17 is used to move the solenoid 18 as shown by the dotted line in the figure. , Excitation is performed until the photoconductor drive motor is turned off. (5) When the above l 1 has elapsed, the rotary cam motor is rotated 90 degrees to reduce the contact pressure of the blade 13, and then (6) l
When the photoconductor drive motor is turned off after the lapse of time 2 and the photoconductor 1 is stopped, the solenoid 18 is released, and (7) the rotation cam motor is further rotated 90 degrees to move the blade 13 to the surface of the photoconductor 1. Separate more. The change in the contact pressure of the blade 13 on the photosensitive member 1 at this time is shown in FIG.
As shown in. In the figure, a is a solenoid 1 for the blade
In the case of (2) and (4) where 8 was demagnetized at the time of l 1 , B turned off the solenoid 18 together with the photoconductor driving motor, and rotated the rotary cam 17 in the meantime (5), (6),
The case of (7) is shown respectively.

Further, in the case of the above (5), when the abrasion reduction of the surface of the photosensitive member which is the object of the present invention is not sufficient, the operations of the above (4) and (5) are combined. The timing at this time is as shown in FIG. 5, and the change in contact pressure is as shown in FIG. That is, the excitation time of the solenoid 18 for the blade is made longer than the required minimum time l 1 after making a copy by l 3 (however, l 3 <l 2 ), and the motor for the rotating cam is rotated 90 degrees during that time to rotate the blade 13 The contact pressure is reduced over l 3 . Then, the rotary cam motor is further rotated by 90 degrees and returned to the original position. Furthermore, when cleaning the final copy surface of the photoconductor requires two passes under normal cleaning conditions, l 1 is taken only twice and the above operation is performed. A block diagram of a configuration for performing the above operation is shown in FIG.

A frame 21 supporting 0 is provided rotatably with respect to the photoconductor 1 with a rotating shaft 21a as a fulcrum, and biased by a spring 22 toward the photoconductor 1 side. The rotation limit is restricted by the stopper 23. An actuating rod 25 of a brush solenoid 24 is connected to the frame 21. By exciting the solenoid 24, 25 is attracted in the direction of arrow A, and the frame 20 is held against the spring 22 by the brush 20 as a photoconductor. It is adapted to rotate in a direction away from 1. The rotation range at this time is until the brush 20 is completely separated from the photoconductor 1 or the contact pressure is reduced. The drive timing of the brush solenoid 24 with respect to the drive motor of the photoconductor 1 and the copy making cycle is as shown in FIG. That is, when the start switch is turned on, (1) the photoconductor drive motor is driven, and then (2) the operations required for making a copy are sequentially activated to make the required number of copies. (3) The brush solenoid 24 is turned on after the required minimum time l 1 after copying e.g. the time until the final copy surface of the photoconductor passes once through the cleaning device after the copy creation cycle is completed. When excited, the brush 20 is separated from the surface of the photoconductor 1 or the contact pressure is reduced. In the above description, the embodiment in which the blade 13 and the brush 20 are individually used has been described.
Both may be used in combination. That is, as an example thereof, when the final copy surface passes through the brush 20, first the motor that drives the brush 20 is stopped (or the connection clutch is disengaged) to stop it, and the contact pressure of the blade 13 is reduced together with this. When the photoconductor 1 makes one rotation or a plurality of rotations from this state, the blade 13 is separated from the photoconductor 1. The timing at this time is as shown in FIG. 14, and the configuration is shown in a block diagram in FIG. In each of the above-described embodiments, an example using the photoconductor 1 using an endless belt has been described, but it goes without saying that the same applies to the case where a cylindrical photoconductor made of a rigid material is used. In the case of the photoconductor 1 using the endless belt as described above, instead of contacting and separating the bood 13 and the brush 20 with respect to the surface of the photoconductor 1, these are fixedly supported by the frame, As shown in FIG. 16, a back surface supporting roll 25 is arranged on the back side of the portion of the photoconductor 1 facing the cleaning device 12 so as to urge the photoconductor 1 of this portion toward the cleaning device 12 side. The contact force of the blade 13 or the brush 20 to the photoconductor 1 may be reduced or separated by letting the roll 25 escape in any direction of A 1 , A 2 , and A 3 in the drawing. A plurality of back support rolls 25 may be provided.

According to the present invention, the abrasion of the surface of the photosensitive member by the blade or brush can be minimized, and the reduction of the film of the photosensitive material can be prevented to prevent the deterioration of copy quality and the life of the photosensitive material. Thus, it is possible to obtain a cleaning method for an electrostatic copying machine, which enables a good copy to be made without unevenness in copy density over a long period of time.
