Abstract

PURPOSE:To grip the spherical head of a stem by a projection train and to cause no dislocation of the affected limb by forming integrally plural pieces of projections in an edge of a recessed part, in a socket having a hemispherical recessed part. CONSTITUTION:In a socket 4 having a hemispherical recessed part, plural pieces of projections 1 are formed integrally in an edge 2 of a recessed part 3. As for a material of the socket 4, a synthetic resin which abounds in elasticity, and also, is scarcely worn such as a polypropyrene resin. etc., is suitable. The projections 1 formed integrally with the socket maim body are projected to the inside to some extent along the edge 2 of the recessed part 3, and the diameter A of a virtual circle for connecting the tips of each projection is smaller than the maximum diameter B of a spherical head 6 of a stem 5. When the spherical head 6 of the stem 5 is pressed strongly against this socket with a claw, the spherical head 6 is fitted into the recessed part 3 with a click, and the spherical head 6 is grasped firmly by the projections 1. Therefore, the stem fitted into the socket once does not fall out simply.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION (Field of Industrial Application) This invention relates to a claw socket for an artificial hip joint that is effective in preventing dislocation. A protrusion is provided on the edge of the socket to prevent the artificial head from falling out of the socket.

(Prior Art) In a conventional human artificial hip joint, a spherical head of a metal artificial bone head called a stem is fitted into a hemispherical recess of a synthetic resin artificial palate called a socket.

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) In recent years, in the veterinary field, surgeries using artificial hip joints have been increasing for various diseases such as hip dysplasia in dogs and comminuted fractures of the greater bone head. Although the socket and stem used in this total hip replacement were made to fit the size of the animal, their shape was exactly the same as that used for humans.

Therefore, unlike humans, it is difficult for animals to rest after surgery, and the stem often comes off the socket, causing dislocation of the affected limb. If this happens, the much-needed surgery will be wasted.

The object of the present invention is to eliminate the above-mentioned drawbacks that occur when an artificial hip joint for humans is applied to animals, and to provide a socket that is effective in preventing dislocation.

(課題を解決するための手段) この発明の構成を第1図に基づいて説明する。(Means for solving problems) The configuration of this invention will be explained based on FIG.

FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing a socket with a claw according to the present invention. In a socket (4) having a hemispherical recess, a plurality of protrusions (1) are integrally molded on the edge (2) of the recess (3).

The material of the socket (4) is preferably a synthetic resin that is highly elastic and hard to wear, such as polypropylene resin.

The protrusion (1), which is integrally molded with the socket body, is located in the recess (3).
It projects slightly inward along the edge (2). As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the diameter A of the virtual circle connecting the tips of each protrusion is made smaller than the maximum diameter B of the spherical head (6) of the stem (5). Protrusion (1
) can be of any shape, such as a claw or a hemisphere, and the size and number are not particularly limited. In addition, the dislocation prevention effect can be enhanced by providing large protrusions in areas that are likely to be burdened, or by increasing the distance between the protrusions.

(Function) When the spherical head (6) of the stem (5) is strongly pressed into this socket with a claw, the spherical head (6) fits into the recess (3) with a snapping sound, and the protrusion (1) causes the spherical head (6) to snap into place. The spherical head (6) is firmly grasped. In other words, the annular protrusion row exerts a powerful action of grasping the ball, as if it were grasping the ball. Therefore, once the stem is fitted into the socket, it cannot be easily removed.

(Effects of the Invention) The claw socket according to the present invention can firmly grip the spherical head of the stem by the row of protrusions. For this reason, even if the operated animal becomes violent during recovery from anesthesia or sprints at full speed after being discharged from the hospital, the affected limb will rarely dislocate.

Moreover, since the protrusion that grasps the stem contacts the surface of the spherical head only as a point, it does not impede the performance of the artificial hip joint at all.

Therefore, this claw socket has excellent practicality and is essential for total hip replacement surgery in animals. of course,
It is also possible to apply it to artificial hip joints for humans.
