Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate the setting of an optimum tapered work roll shift position by online computing and calculating the optimum number of passes to improve an edge drop and the optimum shift position of these passes by using a model, then executing preset control in such a manner that the edge drop of the material coincides with the target edge drop.
CONSTITUTION: There are n-passes of multiple rolling mills on a line. The respective rolling mills are equipped with work rolls 2 which are converged at the ends of roll barrels and can be shifted in the transverse direction of the sheet and back up rolls 3. The improvement of the edge drop is executed by the operation to shift the work rolls 2. The manipulated variable thereof is controlled by a computer for control and a controller.
