Abstract

PURPOSE: To shorten the time required for inspection and to improve the deciding ability for flaws by aligning the convergence position of incident light with the center of the sphere, returning reflected light to an incidence optical system and converging only scattered light, and deciding a flaw.
CONSTITUTION: The flaw inspecting device A converges the incident light 1 on the center O of the spherical body 2 to be measured through a condenser lens 3. Scattered light 4 from the body 2 to be measured is detected by a photodetecting element 8 through a parabolic concave mirror 6, a reflecting mirror 7, and a condenser lens 5. In this constitution, the incident light 1 is made incident on the surface of the spherical body 2 to be measured vertically, so its reflected light 9 is returned to the incidence optical system. If there is a flaw in the surface of the sphere, the incident light 1 striking on the flaw part is reflected irregularly and exits from the incidence optical system as scattered light 4. This scattered light is converged on a photodetecting element 8, which detects whether or not there is the scattered light to decide whether or not there is the flaw. Consequently, the inspection time is shortened and the deciding ability for the flaw is improved.
