Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify each tapping unit in structure as well as to reduce the cost of production by making one requisite unit, selected among proper numbers of tapping units, quickly approaches a workpiece with each operation of a ram and a striker.
CONSTITUTION: When a striker 23 is positioned on a desired tapping unit 11 fitted with a desired tap 9 and a ram body is lowered by a hydraulic cylinder 111, a T-grooved beam member 105 goes down horizontally, and the striker 23 is lowered via a T sliding member 109, coming into contact with the top of a cap 99. When the striker 23 is further lowered, a tap guide 79 and the tap 93 both are lowered as far as the specified height (a), so that this desired tap 93 is quickly approached to a workpiece W. At time of tapping, since the desired tap 93 alone has been already approached, it enters a punch hole of the workpiece W and tapping operation is performed, but other tapes are not yet approaches so that they go down but are not yet in reach of the workpiece W.
