Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a displacer from colliding against a cylinder so as to attain low noise and low vibration by providing collision preventing mechanism, formed of a non-linear spring provided with a comparatively strong spring constant, in the vicinity of both stroke ends of at least one of a displacer and a piston.
CONSTITUTION: A vertical pair of small cylinders 17a, 17a are disposed at a specified space apart inside a cylinder 1 for enclosing a displacer rod 14 connected to a displacer 13, and a small piston 17b is connected to the lower end of the displacer rod 14. This small piston 17 enters into each small cylinder 17a only in the vicinity of both ends of its stroke, and this small piston 17b and each small cylinder 17a form a gas spring space 18. Also collision preventing mechanism 17 is formed in the vicinity of the stroke of the displacer 13. The gas spring space 18 is so formed that its gas spring constant presents a non-linear spring constant enlarged suddenly as the small piston 17b approaches the small cylinder 17a, while a gas spring space 15 in the cylinder 1 is so set as to present an approximately linear spring constant.
