Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 <発明の技術分野> 本発明は光学的に情報の記録・再生・消去等を
行なう光メモリ素子に関するものである。
<発明の技術的背景とその問題点> 近年、光メモリ素子は高密度大容量メモリとし
て注目されており、中でも特に光メモリ円板は磁
気テープ等に比べて情報のアクセスが速いため、
特に研究開発が活発に行なわれている。
従来より提案されている情報の消去も可能な光
磁気メモリ円板の構造の断面一部拡大図を第5図
に示す。
第5図において、1及び5はそれぞれPMMA
等の樹脂基板あるいはガラス基板等から成る透明
円板であり、2及び4はそれぞれ単層磁性膜また
は誘電体膜、磁性膜、反射膜等より成る多層膜の
記録層であり、3は紫外線硬化剤等の接着剤層で
ある。
このような構成にあつては2枚重ねの円板にす
ることにより、円板の両面に情報を入れることが
出来るため、円板当りの情報量が2倍になるメリ
ツトがあると共に、透明円板1及び5として
PMMA等の樹脂基板を用いた場合には基板のそ
り等の形状変化を抑えることが出来るという利点
もある。
しかし、一方円板の回転による振れまわりを低
減するために、円板の厚み公差及び接着層3の厚
みむら等を厳しく管理して円板状の光メモリ素子
を製作する必要がある。
<発明の目的> 本発明は上記諸点に鑑みて成されたものであ
り、2枚重ねの光メモリ素子において接着層の厚
みむらを無くした構造の光メモリ素子を提供する
ことを目的とし、この目的を達成するため、本発
明の光メモリ素子は周辺部を除く表面上に記録層
の形成された第1及び第2の透明基板と、該第1
及び第2の透明基板を前記記録層を挟んで貼り合
わせる紫外線硬化型の接着層とを備え、該紫外線
硬化型の接着層には1.4〜1.6程度の屈折率を有す
る透明なスペーサ部材が散在して構成されてい
る。
<発明の実施例> 以下、本発明を図面を参照して詳細に説明す
る。
第1図は本発明の光メモリ素子の一実施例の構
造を示す一部拡大断面図である。
第1図において1及び5はそれぞれPMMA等
の樹脂基板あるいはガラス基板等から成る透明円
板、2及び4はそれぞれ上記の透明円板1及び5
の対向する面上に形成された単層磁性膜または誘
電体膜、反射膜等より成る多層膜の記録層、3は
紫外線硬化型の接着剤層であり、この接着剤層3
中に本発明の特徴である球状のスペーサ部材6が
散在されている。
上記スペーサ部材6を屈折率が1.4〜1.6程度の
透明体で構成することにより、紫外線硬化型の接
着剤の屈折率とほぼ同じ値を示すことになり、こ
の結果、この球状のスペーサ部材6の存在を光学
的には検出できなくなり、見かけ上、第5図に示
した従来の接着層のみのものと同じになり、かつ
接着層の厚みの最小値は、この球状のスペーサ部
材6の直径精度によつて正確に設定されることに
なる。
なお、スペーサ部材6の材質としてはガラスあ
るいはPMMA等の樹脂部材等が良く、また大き
さは50〜100μmの直径であることが望ましい。
上記第1図に示した光メモリ素子を作る場合、
次の順序で行なわれる。
紫外線硬化型の未硬化の接着剤に上記の球状
スペーサ部材を体積比100:10:1(接着剤:ス
ペーサ)で混入させて、よく撹拌する。
上記のスペーサの入つた接着剤中に含まれる
気泡を例えば真空引き等によつて抜く。
接着剤を円板上に塗布する。
円板を重ねて位置合わせを行ない、第2図に
示すように上下面から圧力を加える。このとき
圧力を加えるための押圧板7は円板直径よりも
小さい直径を有する円形をしているものが望ま
しい。
接着層の厚みがスペーサ部材で決定されるに
充分な圧力を加えた後、紫外線9を円板全面に
照射する。なお、このとき円板は第3図に示す
ように外周部に記録膜が無く光が通過する構造
をしているものとし、このような構造により、
スペーサの混入された接着層3′のうち光の照
射される10の部分が硬化して、円板が滑らな
くなる。
以上のようにして第1図に示した構造の光メモ
リ素子が作られるが、本発明の光メモリ素子の製
造方法はこれに限定されるものではない。
なお、接着剤として嫌気硬化性のものを使用す
ることにより、時間経過と共に未硬化部分が硬化
するために更に好都合である。
本発明は上記実施例に限定されるものではな
く、種々の変形が可能である。
例えばスペーサ部材6は球状である必要がな
く、第4図に示すように円柱状のスペーサ部材
6′を用いることも可能である。このような円柱
状のスペーサ部材6′をガラスで構成した場合に
は第4図における矢印aの方向から力を加えても
形状が容易に変化しないのに対し、矢印bのよう
に斜めから力を加えた場合には円柱6′が折れて
より短い円柱となり、従つて適当な圧力を加える
ことで最終的には円柱の直径にまで間隔が縮まる
ことになる。
またPMMA等の樹脂材料をスペーサ部材6′と
して用いる場合には円柱の高さを長くすることに
より、円柱が全て第4図に示すように倒れた形と
なり、最少間隔が容易に決定されることになる。
また第2図における押え板7は必ずしも円形で
ある必要はなく、要は円板外周部あるいは内周部
に設けられた記録膜のない透明部分の一部に光が
照射され得る形状であれば良い。
<発明の効果> 以上説明したように、本発明によれば、周辺部
を除く表面上に記録層の形成された2枚の透明基
板を、記録層を挟んで、屈折率が1.4〜1.6程度の
透明なスペーサ部材を散在させた紫外線硬化型の
接着層によつて貼り合わせるので、記録層の形成
された透明基板間の接着層の厚みを容易に、か
つ、精度良く均一にすることが可能となる。しか
も、接着層に散在する透明なスペーサ部材の屈折
率が1.4〜1.6程度であるので、接着層中に散在す
るスペーサ部材の存在が光学的に検出されること
がなく、従来のスペーサ部材のない接着層のみの
光メモリ素子と全く同様に取り扱うことが可能と
なる。
