Abstract

PURPOSE:To exhaust gas near the bottom of a pump flow line securely by providing multiple gas exhaust ports connected to the outside of the pump in an impeller with multiple vane grooves at its external edges and near the pump flow line on the sliding surfaces of a pump cover. CONSTITUTION:In a circumferential liquid pump, when an impeller 3 is rotated by an electric motor 10, a liquid such as liquid fuel, etc., is sucked from a suction port 2A to one end of a pump flow line 5, and let flow out from a delivery port 1A at the other end to a liquid chamber 16 along the pump flow line 5. In this pump action, a gas such as bubble caused by fuel vapor generated at the contact surface between a vane groove part 3A of the impeller 3 and the liquid in the pump flow line 5 is collected near the impeller in the internal surfaces of the pump flow line 5. To make effective discharge of the gas, multiple gas discharge ports 2D, 2E, and 2F connected to the outside of the pump are provided on the impeller sliding surfaces of a pump cover 2 along the pump flow line 5.

Next, the operation will be explained. In the circumferential flow liquid pump configured as described above, the impeller 3 is driven to rotate clockwise in FIG. 7 by the electric motor 10, so that liquid such as liquid fuel is pumped from the suction port 2A. It is sucked into one end of the flow path 5. This liquid is pressurized by the fluid frictional resistance generated by the high speed rotation of the impeller blade groove 3A in the pump flow path 5, flows clockwise when looking at the pump flow path 5 in FIG. 7, and is discharged from the other end. It flows out into the liquid chamber 16 from the hole 1A. During this outflow, bubble-like gas due to fuel vapor generated at the contact surface between the impeller blade groove 3A and the liquid in the pump flow path 5 is removed from the gas exhaust provided adjacent to the stepped portion 5B in the enlarged flow path. It is discharged out of the pump assembly 100 by outlet 2C.

[Problems to be Solved by the Invention] In a circumferential flow liquid pump used as a fuel pump, when bubbles due to fuel vapor are generated in the pump flow path and accumulate in the pump flow path, a so-called vapor lock occurs, and the liquid fuel Flow may be obstructed and pump function may be significantly reduced. In view of these problems, conventional circumferential flow liquid pumps have a gas exhaust port in the pump cover that connects the middle part of the pump flow path to the outside of the pump assembly. It is configured to discharge gas such as bubbles caused by generated fuel vapor to the outside of the pump flow path. However, since the gas discharge port is provided at the bottom of the enlarged flow path, the liquid friction force is not sufficiently transmitted, and air bubbles generated at the contact surface between the impeller blade groove and the liquid in the pump flow path are Due to the centrifugal force and the difference in specific gravity of the liquid, the liquid collects near the impeller on the inner circumference of the pump flow path, and the liquid friction resistance becomes smaller and smaller. Therefore, there is a problem in that the liquid and gas present near the bottom of the pump channel cannot be discharged out of the pump assembly, and there is a possibility that vapor lock may occur.

The present invention has been made to solve the above-mentioned problems, and it is possible to ensure that gas such as bubbles due to fuel vapor generated in the pump flow path is discharged from the pump flow path to the outside of the pump assembly. It is an object of the present invention to provide an improved circumferential flow liquid pump which is constructed so as to prevent the occurrence of vapor lock.

[Operation] According to the circumferential flow liquid pump of the present invention,
When gas such as bubbles is generated due to fuel evaporation at the contact surface between the impeller blade groove and a liquid such as fuel in the pump flow path, this gas tends to collect on the inner peripheral side of the pump flow path. Therefore, this gas is discharged from the gap between the sliding surfaces of the impeller and the pump cover to the outside of the pump channel through the gas discharge port. In this case, since there are multiple gas discharge ports, the gas (bubbles) that is not discharged at the first gas discharge port or the gas generated downstream of the first gas discharge port is sequentially transferred to the second and third gas discharge ports. It is discharged from the outlet.

In the circumferential flow type liquid pump constructed as described above, the impeller 3 is rotationally driven by the electric motor 10 in the clockwise direction as viewed in FIG. is sucked into one end of the pump channel 5, and this liquid flows clockwise when looking at the pump channel 5 in FIG. 2, and flows out into the liquid chamber 16 from the discharge hole 1A at the other end. During this pumping operation, gas such as bubbles due to fuel vapor generated at the contact surface between the blade groove portion 3A of the impeller 3 in the pump flow path 5 and a liquid such as fuel is pumped due to the centrifugal force and the difference in specific gravity of the liquid. It is collected near the impeller on the inner periphery of the flow path 5. Here, since the gas such as bubbles is being pushed toward the inner circumference, that is, toward the sliding surface 2H of the impeller 3 and the pump cover 2, the sliding surface 2H
Only air bubbles are efficiently exhausted through the gas outlet through the small gap in the air. Further, bubbles that are not discharged through the first gas discharge port 2D or bubbles that are generated downstream of the first gas discharge port 2D are discharged from the second and third gas discharge ports 2E and 2F.

Example 3. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 2, an extremely small inclined surface 2G is provided along the entire circumference along the inside of the pump channel 5, and this is easy to process to form the inclined surface 2G. Since the pump channel 5 is also formed in a portion where there is no pump channel 5, the efficiency of the pump is slightly deteriorated. On the other hand, in the embodiment shown in FIG.
A sloped surface 2G similar to that shown in FIG. 4 is provided in a band shape along the radially inner side of the pump flow path 5 only between the discharge hole 1A and the discharge hole 1A, and compared with that of Example 1 (FIG. 2). The efficiency of the pump is good.

As described above, according to the present invention, a plurality of gas discharge ports are provided in the area where gas such as bubbles generated in the pump flow path gathers, that is, in the sliding surface of the pump cover and the impeller. Gas (bubbles) that is not discharged at the first gas discharge port or gas generated downstream of the first gas discharge port is sequentially discharged from the second and third gas discharge ports. . Therefore, the gas (bubbles) remaining without being discharged in the conventional pump can be efficiently discharged, so that vapor lock can be reliably avoided without impairing the pump function. In addition, gas (bubbles) can be removed even more efficiently by providing a small strip-like slope or step along the flow path, and providing multiple gas discharge ports communicating with the outside of the pump on the bottom of this slope or step. Can be discharged.
