(Background of the invention) A speaker system having a spherical enclosure made of transparent glass has attracted attention in recent years because its shape and the physical properties of glass are advantageous for reproducing high-fidelity sound. On the other hand, in order to enhance the decorative effect of the glass material, a speaker system is known in which a light source is inserted into an enclosure and an amplifier circuit is provided to change the illuminance of the light source as the volume and tone change. However, inserting the light source into the enclosure not only reduces the internal volume of the enclosure, but also causes heating by the light source and interference with audio signals, which deteriorates sound quality. Additionally, it was necessary to drill holes in the enclosure in order to connect the wiring to the light source.

Furthermore, when the light source needs to be replaced due to the end of its life, the speaker unit must be removed from the enclosure, which is a hassle.

(Summary of the invention) The gist of the invention is to provide a speaker system consisting of a transparent glass spherical enclosure containing ions that emit fluorescent light when irradiated with ultraviolet rays, and the speaker system. The system is characterized in that it is combined with a light source provided outside the system that emits light with wavelengths mainly in the ultraviolet range toward the enclosure.

(Function) This method takes advantage of the fact that when transparent glass for spherical enclosures contains ions such as Ce 3+ and Pb 2+ as components, the glass itself emits fluorescent light when irradiated with ultraviolet rays. For example, if a light-emitting device that emits ultraviolet light with a wavelength of 254 nm is used to irradiate ultraviolet light onto a transparent glass enclosure containing a Pb 2+ ion component that absorbs this wavelength, the entire enclosure will emit fluorescent light and become dim. It looks shiny in places. Ultraviolet rays below 300 nm are harmful to human eyes, so they should be prevented from entering the eyes directly.

In FIG. 1, a speaker unit 1 is composed of a transparent glass enclosure 2 formed into a spherical shape, and a speaker unit 3 mounted in an opening formed by cutting out a part of the enclosure 2. The enclosure 2 includes transparent glass containing ions such as Ce 3+ and Pb 2+ that emit fluorescent light when irradiated with ultraviolet light. 4
is connected to an external terminal 5 attached to the enclosure 2 by a lead wire of the speaker unit 3. Reference numeral 6 denotes a speaker stand ring made of an elastic member such as rubber and having a solid circular cross section, and is placed on, for example, a horizontal stand 7 to support the speaker system 1. This speaker stand ring 6
The annular diameter and thickness are adjusted so that a space can be formed between the lower end of the enclosure 2 and the stand 7 in which an ultraviolet light emitting device (to be described later) can be housed in a state where the speaker system 1 is supported. 8 is an ultraviolet light emitting device, and when the ultraviolet light source 9 is energized, ultraviolet light is emitted toward the enclosure.

In this embodiment, enclosure 2 is pbo
It is made of transparent lead crystal glass containing 25% with a wall thickness of 10 nm and an outer diameter of 280 nm, and uses a 4W mineral light (manufactured by Ultra Violet Products, UVG-11) that emits ultraviolet light with a wavelength of 254 nm as an ultraviolet light emitting device. and set the brightness of the room to about 50
When the ultraviolet light emitting device was energized in a dimly lit state, the entire enclosure 2 emitted light and appeared to glow pale blue-white. FIG. 2 shows the transmittance curve of the enclosure glass containing 25% PBO used in this example. As shown in the figure, light is absorbed at a wavelength of 254 nm. Therefore, there is no risk of harmful wavelengths of light entering the eye through the enclosure.

(Effects of the invention) This invention uses the transparency of the glass of the enclosure to enhance the acoustic effect both decoratively and psychologically. Moreover, since the enclosure itself becomes a light-emitting body, it can be used in environments with low illuminance. The effect becomes even more pronounced.
