Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance image quality by rapidly improving the irregularity of a resistance value by applying a voltage pulse whose magnitude corresponds to the deviation from a set value to a heating resistor having a high resistance value.
CONSTITUTION: A common. electrode 2, individual electrodes 31-3n, pads 61-632 and a heating resistor group 4 are formed on an insulating substrate 1 in an electrically connected state using thick film technique. One probe of a resistance detector is brought into contact with the common electrode 2 and the other probe thereof is successively brought into contact with the pads 61-632 to detect the resistance values of respective heating resistors 4a. At this time, with respect to the resistor whose resistance value is higher than a set value Ro, the probe is detached from the detector while it is applied to the common electrode and the pads and pulse voltage with a duty ratio of 1/50, pulse width of 1μsec and the magnitude corresponding to the deviation of the resistance value is applied to lower the resistance value to a set value Ro. Thereafter, the insulating substrate is loaded with a driver 5. The irregularity of the resistance values of the heating resistors is suppressed and image quality can be enhanced to a large extent without increasing the capacity of a power supply.
