Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect the center of rotation of a rotary shaft highly precisely and simply.
CONSTITUTION: A target 3 such as a steel ball 4 or a flat plate (optical flat) of high precision is fitted to the fore end of a rotary shaft and the displacement in the axial direction of the target 3 in the course of rotation of the rotary shaft is measured by a displacement meter 7. While the shape component and the rotational precision component of the target 3 are contained in an output signal of the displacement meter 7, only a rotational synchronous component is taken out of the output signal and a position whereat the rotational synchronous component is minimum is determined as the center of rotation of the rotary shaft.
