Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic thin-film for a magnetic head having excellent write capacitance by changing plating current density or the concentration of a plating solution and altering a component constituting the magnetic thin- film continuously or discontinuously in the film thickness direction of the magnetic thin-film.
CONSTITUTION: A foundation layer 12 composed of a 80% permalloy film is formed onto a substrate 11 consisting of a nonmagnetic material, etc. A magnetic thin-film 30 is formed through an electroplating method, but the concentration of FeSO4, 7H2O in a plating solution is varied at that time. Plating current density is changed, and a component in the film thickness direction is altered continuously or discontinuously. The magnetic thin-film 30 is patterned in a required shape, and a gap 32, a coil 34, and a protective layer 36 are applied and shaped in succession. A foundation layer 37 is formed, and a magnetic thin-film 38, in which the component in the film thickness direction is varied continuously or discontinuously, is formed again.
