Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the judging of the hardness of an artery of a person to be inspected accurately and non-invasively by restricting the passage of blood stream at three pressing parts arranged along an artery to detect a pulse wave of the artery at the center and the peripheral side thereof while detecting a pressing pressure by pressing means.
CONSTITUTION: In an arterial hardness observing apparatus, the restriction of the passage of blood steams of three pressing parts arranged adjacent to one another along the artery is performed under the same pressure to detect a pulse wave of the artery with a pressure sensor 1 of the middle of the pressing parts while the pulse wave of the artery on the peripheral side is detected with a pressure sensor 2 and moreover, a pressing force by a pressing means for performing the restriction of the passage of a blood stream is detected with a sensor 3. Then, a differential detection output signal is outputted as information for observation of the arterial hardness between a detection output signal with the pressure sensor 3 in a state or restricting the passage of the blood stream from which a detection output signal of a specified level is obtained with the pressure sensor 1 and the detection output signal with the pressure sensor 3 in a state of restricting the passage of the blood stream from which a detection output signal of a specified level is obtained with the pressure sensor 2.
