Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a stimulable phosphor giving high luminescence under mercury emission line excitation, also small in the decline of the luminescent intensity during fluorescent lamp lighting, comprising a divalent Eu-activated aluminate stimulable phosphor having the specified composition.
CONSTITUTION: The objective divalent Eu-activated blue luminescent stimulable phosphor of formula (BaxMgyCazEuw)O.aAl2O3.bPO5 (0.1≤X≤0.5, 0.1≤Y≤0.8, 0≤Z≤0.2, 0.03≤W≤0.10, X+Y+Z+W=1; 1.5≤a≤4.5; 0.001≤b≤0.100). For obtaining the present stimulable phosphor, raw materials are ground and mixed in e.g. a ball mill, and put into a heat resisting vessel such as a crucible, and then roasted in air at 1200-1400°C for 2-3hr. The resulting product is ground, put into a heat resisting vessel again, and roasted in a reductive atmosphere at 1400-1700°C for 4-5hr followed by grinding and washing with water.
