Abstract

PURPOSE: To accurately detect the dot clock frequency of an optional video signal by measuring and averaging reference pulses which have dot intervals specified in one optional scanning line of an input video signal for a period of plural dots.
CONSTITUTION: One optional scanning line of the input video signal is selected, one dot interval in the scanning line is specified, and a measuring counter 6 measures the reference pulses having a period T. The measurement data (n) is inputted to an adder 8 and added as many times (m) as specified with data for measurement frequency setting and a computing element 9 calculates f=m/nT to detect the frequency (f) of the object dot clock.
