Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain balance of saturation in an excellent way by deviating a hue of a peak of each color of an input side color cube in a direction of a peak of a color corresponding to an output side color cube in the case of compressing the saturation of the input side color cube.
CONSTITUTION: The L* among a representing color system is converted in response to a spread ratio of the lightness on an achromatic color axis of an input side color cube and an output side color cube in relation to the direction of the lightness, the lightness of the input side color cube is compressed and mapped. In relation to the saturation direction, no conversion is implemented in the middle at a part where the color reproduction range of the input side color cube and the output side color cube and u*, v* or a*, b* among the value of the representing color system are converted in response to the spread of the saturation of the two color cubes at the circumference part and the saturation of the input side color cube is expanded and mapped. Moreover, when the saturation of the input side color cube is expanded and mapped, the hue of the peak of each color of the input side color cube is deviated in a direction of the color peak corresponding to the output side color cube. The color reproduction has a range of sufficient lightness and saturation and the entire saturation is well balanced.
