Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject high-purity compound in high yield using simple operation by alkylating K or Li salt of 2-hydroxyiminopropanedinitrile.
CONSTITUTION: A compound expressed by formula I (M is K or Li) is reacted with an alkylating agent in a molar amount of 0.5-3 times, preferably 0.5-2 times based on the aforementioned compound expressed by formula I to provide a compound expressed by formula II (R1 is straight-chain, branched or cyclic alkyl which may be substituted). The compound expressed by formula I is obtained by reacting malonitrile with nitrous acid or its salt under acidic conditions and then reacting the resultant compound with a K or an Li compound. The compound expressed by formula II is useful as an intermediate raw material compound for 2-substituted hydroxyimino-2(5-amino-1,2,4- thiadiazol-3-yl)acetic acids or their salts useful as an acylating agent for producing cephalosporin-based compounds having antimicrobial action.
